Forecast was spot on so far. Seeing the opportunity, I decided to get the splitter out and start on my hoard. Asked dad if he wanted to run the hydros so he came over to help. I didn’t want to be in direct sun so I put up the easy up. We stopped for lunch at this point. It’s great seeing this mountain get smaller. Lost count of how many trailer loads. Finally called it a day at 4:15. The first pic was taken at 8:30. I’ll be back at it tomorrow. Hope we can knock out the rest. It goes so much quicker w/ 2 people. This wood typically can be pulled apart after the wedge goes about 3-5” in. Some of these rounds gave me a vanilla aroma, some were completely whiskey barrel. The smell anywhere near the stacks is fantastic. Hope everyone is having an awesome day.
Yes they do. I’ve kept them with about 4-6 cords per year for a couple seasons now. Most of the trees I’ve been cutting the tops have been going to them.
Nice work guys. Yeah it was cool, breezy then mostly cloudy here. I split about a cord of BL this afternoon. Thread coming.
The weather this weekend has been beautiful in PA. Could stay like this all sunmer for me. Ideal hoarding weather.
I agree 100%. I know the heat is coming so I’m working like he11 to get this done. Pile is getting pretty small now. Not sure I have it in me to finish. Dad just left. He is kinda impatient (lol) so instead of having stacks not to my liking, we started throwing on a pile. Nice trailer load in this one.
That’s it, towel thrown. Splitter ran out of gas about 4p. Fired up about 8:30. Just came in the house at 5:45. This is what’s left to split. So close… and the money shot: My long row: Happy Father’s Day to all the dad’s out there. I spent from about 9-2 w/ mine.
Man that looks good. Nice to see it laid in, and before the heat. It looks like you got the bulk of it done, another good day and it'll be all wrapped up. Or a couple half days.
Nice work Jason. Surely a sight to behold. Id be beat after splitting that long too. Few hours yesterday and i feel it today. No wooding today except pulling some ash splits from my woods with the wheelbarrow.
Hoping maybe a couple evenings after work to finish up. Couple of those are 48" logs so saw time is in order. Only need it for a couple hours in the morning but I feel the same way.
Impressive weekend. Y'all got a lot of rounds processed. Stacks look great. So glad you got to spend time with your dad while doing it...
