With the help of Charlie and amateur cutter dump trailer we got the gravel base in today. I am hand tamping it down now. That kid is a workaholic!
Well I ended up needing roughly 1 more yard so I did that this morning and now it looks much better.. I used an old 2*4 and made a rock leveling board/ device and got it smoothed out good! It took some time to compact it down but I think it turned out nicely.
I had 140 bags of concrete delivered a few weeks ago and put into the garage. Yesterday 4 friends came over to help and we set up the cement mixer and did the concrete pad. The wire mesh was wire that my friend had left over next to his barn so we used it. It was pulled up into the cement as we went along. I bought a bunch of used cement tools off Facebook marketplace Bull Float, concrete vibrator, trowels ect… I have to go out this morning and get a picture of the pad dry and check it. We woke up to the blessing of heavy rain but I’m hoping the pad dried before the rain and didn’t take any damage from it. We worked our bits off floating the pad nice and smooth…. All in all I think it took us about 3.5 hours to pour it.
Boy it’s really smooth! Not bad for a bunch of guys with no clue what we are doing! You can see the marks from smoothing it out but you can’t feel them at all! Very happy how it turned out…
It’s covered in mud and dirt from the splash back that rain is really coming down hard this morning! The garden is gonna love it!
It would be a lot of work for you just to supervise in this heat… Oh wait, I’d be standing right next to ya! (But not at 8am like I’ve seen you and will711 do… )
That was the reason for doing the roof first. We thought it would be august before we got to the cement and didn’t want to bake in the sun.
