This Maple went into the Brook during the ice storm, it will come out today so we don't have to worry about the ice hanging up on it.

The worst part will be cutting it up on the bank, (just have to make sure of my footing) picture 8761.

Time to get the waders out. Looks like that could be fun.
Pretty scenery though! Gotta love working in that environment!

Good luck getting a good footing with all that ice. Hope you'll be wearing some crampons! :D

Depending on your temps will decide on a quick swim too? Have fun!

It went better then I expected, the wife running the winch on the Rhino was a big help. The deer had made a perfect trail near the bank so the footing was excellent.

Pic 9880 is before the cut, pic 9881 is after I hooked up to the middle of the tree with a tree saver and the winch, when my wife started winching the current took the other end to the edge of the Brook (pic 9882) in pic 9882 I switched our tree saver with a d-shackle to the end nearest to the edge of the Brook, pic 9883...peace brother, you can see in pic 9886 our setup for getting some uplift with more pulling power, pic 9887 is after we had it out but I needed to do some limbing up so we could pull it out farther, pic 9890.

My second step off the bank put me in water just under my chest, the sun was strong in that area so it felt great.

I might have rubbed up against some P.I., we have some Technu cleansing lotion I put on.

We did get this Maple that was down from the ice storm, I forgot the after pictures.

There also was a topped off small Birch that we grabbed, I told my wife that once it gets up over the hump to drag it a bit, 75 yards later she stopped, it was a perfect day for this.

I'll buck everything up before the middle of September.

Like x 5000! You take personal forestry to the next level bro! Nice work, hopefully the ice dams wont clog things up now. Seeing that drop off, looks deep for some brook trout?

It can be a good spot, I found some big rocks in that area today when I was in there, so it does over some cover.

Thanks H.F., with the snow melt in the spring things get wild.

On my water break today, my wife was pointing out the next trees that she thinks will come down in the Brook, it will keep you busy.

That is the one area (the Brook) we always work together. The part of the Maple still on the hill slid down some so it got me thinking it wants out of there, we'll see if we can pull it off with the truck.

We have another tree (Birch) that needs to be removed before the ice takes it out, maybe next weekend.

Always enjoy your posts, Zap. Keep up the good work. I may have to bring my tent up there some long weekend near the brook and live off the land for a couple days. Great little slice of Heaven you have up there...
