Not real sure Brad. I'll probably start picking at it here in a few weeks. He thought it was hvbw...was talking about selling those of course. Funny thing is that there is a stove in the house he wants to get rid of. Guess some folks are satisfied paying the fuel oil man
I didn't count but at least 20. Lots of cherry and those locust. There used to be a bank barn when I was a kid where the house is now.
just an FYI. That BL score on the exit of Rt 2 that’s too far for you- it’s all gone now anyway. State came through and chipped up every tree in the area. And tomorrow they’ll lecture us on climate change.
NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO! Say it isnt so! BL abuse! Who do i report this to??? Ill hafta find another BL score. Have several up my sleeve for the Fall, but am always game for an unplanned one.
Okay. Where do we send a letter to the state...the Department of BL management? Maybe we can use an official FHC letterhead to show them we mean business? Show up on Lamont's front lawn in the FHC helicoptor! Between you and Eric browsing FBM/CL another score will pop up. I still have at least a PU full of dead/down/clean up BL at Hurd to get yet. Some work but good wood to be had.
Dang, so clean looking. After primarily chestnut (white) oak for the past couple years, I'm used to a HUGE mess of bark and such. I'm not complaining though.
It is a thing of beauty for sure. I hear you on the mess. That CO bark is thick too. I had a cord of BL rounds from last March that i finally split early Winter and now the storage area is carpeted with the bark. I LOVE BL when the bark is off and mother nature has cleaned it up nicely. These were off the ground too
Yep, that does look good. Reminds me of those 50+ hickory logs we got in the spring that the bark was gone. Looked like utility poles
Hickory bark is some amazing stuff. Tough as nails. Were these dead or did the bark kinda peel itself off? Years back when the lot next to my father was cleared they bulldozed several hickories and he got the wood. The bark would peel off where the dozer had scraped it. Dries quicker for sure.
They were live trees. The guy that gave them to us does site clearing. He had them long enough for the bark to split and come off. We got the bark off of a few others.
