It will reduce the canopy so may increase sunlight a bit short term, but probably not much. My goals are:
    • Remove dead / dying trees (which means most of the black cherry unfortunately). Work needed done in the next couple of years anyway and I'd rather do it before there is a chance of something happening to the future additions to the roof.
    • Remove trees that are leaning strongly towards the house. Most are 80-100', top heavy and and only 40-50' from the house.
    • Cut back long limbs that are reaching for the house and creating stress points on the trees themselves
    • Give the crabapple at side of house a haircut/sideburn trim to ensure it doesn't become a squirrel runway to my roof - that would be bad with electronics going up there.
Any additional sunlight will be a bonus. But will it really? That is the east side so the shade keeps the house from warming up in the morning - doesn't really start hitting until 11 am during the warmest weather.

It should help some during winter, with less trunks/limbs blockage - but winter is a low production time anyway so again, probably won't generate much additional kw.

Update on the effectiveness of this recipe.

One thing I have noticed is that the mosquitos have fresh breath and are even worse for flying is a straight line. Oh yeah, and they are so salty that if you miss swatting one, it swears at you!

That being said, I guess it does have some effect on those pests! :rofl: :rofl:

Since the arrival of the new pup, splitting the rounds has slowed dramatically. Still trying to get one mini truck load a day and clean up as I go. 99 is pretty concerned about the eagle that likes to perch in a edge of the yard tree while the pup is laying outside....

I kept our second Brittany in a kennel on the deck (instead of loose in the yard with other dogs when she was tiny.....), and when Blondie came home tiny it was a family of Great White Snowy owls, 2 parents and a baby- they liked to hang out on our roof before dawn and that was Blondies potty training schedule. Ahhhhh, women!

Hot hot hot! Thermometer is reading 84. I think it is lying. The weather guessers say it is going to get much worse in the next couple of days.
Made rounds yesterday with the grandson and had visions of doing some splitting today, But you sweat sitting in the shade drinking ice tea.

I guess the splitting can wait.
Took 2 cats to the Vet for vacinations this morning. All animals are done and ready for their vacation at the kennels. Their vacation is costing more than mine I believe. Boarding 4 animals $$$$s.
Lit a fire to burn off all the junk wood and bark that has colleted in the splitting area. If I keep at it maybe it will be all ashes by the end of the summer.

We were mid 90's* yesterday. Indoor hygrometer has been around 30%, not used to it or a Covid after affect, 30% feels wet to my lungs.

Dew point hit 86 a while ago....only 91 but feels like 120. I've never been to an equitorial rain forest before but this is what I imagine it feels like.
