Anyone use fix it fuel ever? Was talking with a guy and he said that if he ever starts to notice a 2 cycle start to get tougher to start or run, he dumps the gas out and runs a tank of this stuff. Runs it for 2 minutes to get through the system then let's it set a couple days then burns the tank out and claims to have good luck. I saw a quart was around $13 but if it does work it would be worth it. What is your experience with it?
Stabil has a product that I used in my snowblower last winter. Worked great.. ran it through a couple other engines as a preventative measure. Perhaps this has a similar formula. Do you have a link to the product you are referring to?
Did you ever figure out what it was that gelled in your generator? I know you were thinking it was the sea foam that caused it, and it very well could have been. Just wondering why. I’ve never seen it do what it did to yours. But it definitely cleans things up inside a carburetor
My buddy used SF in his sled religiously...some of the nastiest carbs I've ever been in...and it ran fine the previous season.
I have been shutting off the gas tank and running the engine out of gas as of last few years. So far, so good.
Tim found the fuel gelled and his camper generator and we were all figuring it was caused by the sea foam. But obviously, it would have to have been mixed with something else because seafoam doesn’t just turn into a gel.
I believe that is from excess water, but I have no proof. If there’s no water to speak of, it seems to leave everything spotless inside carburetors
I'm technologically deficient and don't know how to do the links things. Here are a couple shots of what he was talking about.
I've been using stabil since it first came out and have not had any problems. What does startron do that's better?
It definitely cleared out a bunch of goo from somewhere. The guy that worked on it didn't know where it came from... the cleaning helped some, but then he rebuilt the carb and its been running good ever since. I think it's been 4 years. We run it every month and put a load on it for 20 minutes (with a small electric heater or the a/c)
Star Tron Enzyme Fuel Treatment Gas Additive Small Engine Essentially rather than a petroleum distillate based formula it relies on a enzymatic formula to stabilize fuel and remove water. In addition, unlike stabil, it will rejuvenate old fuel. I also think it performs better in preventing deposits, gum, crud, etc. though I have no scientific proof beyond just anecdotal.
I put an ounce of seafoam in every gallon of 2 cycle fuel I mix up. I've never had any problems with it.
