Getting ready Hauled stuff out to hunting area & put up one 11' tree stand in a birch & one 15' tree stand in black spruce
Nice lookin stands dave. I was out on friday checking a few stands and future stand locations but cut it short after i got covered in chiggers. I love this time of year but hates those little skin chewing bastads!
Open now, but real warm & still green , hard to see . Frost due any time Birch leaves just turning dull greens & yellows, some starting to drop. We cut several trail too. (Tough on the chainsaw) More a working trip out to camp than a hunt.
Exactly ! How to you hang meat at 70°. ? ? Probably good that we were working putting in trails & building tree stands, & Sweating profusely :firepit: & no moose committed suicide coming into the sound of chain saws
Sweet stands Dave! They look like a perfect place for grizzly's to mate.....Good luck when you get out! Bag a big'unn
Don't want to see any f*****g grizzlies But the area is now a predator control area, open for grizzlies, no permit needed for residents. Wonder if it's legal to shoot f*****g grizzlies ? ?
Looking forward to stories of your hunting trip, Dave. Good luck, maybe another nice set of antlers for the woodshed and lotsa meat for the upcoming winter! Do you guys "cold pack" or can any of the meat? I love cold pack deer meat!!
Have canned a few batches moose stew in the past. Need to do more, easy to make meals Some pints of canned meat would be a good to do too.
My one buddy at work had a simple recipe for canned meatloaf. You have to use the wide mouth Mason jars for it. Man is it ever delicious!
Got some really nice shooting lanes. Hope you drop em right in the lane where you can get at em with the ATV. (Bet you do too) Good luck.
Good luck Dave. Winter is coming early, hope you fill the freezer. BTW, just had my first snow shower. Still a month to go for Elk season.
