dropped a big hollow maple at my MILS farm. Went back to look and see what was in the trunk and to my surprise!!! they’re kind of cute when they’re little, not so much when they grow up. Just missed them by about 6-12” with the back cut! I let them be a finished up the rest of the tree. I wonder if mama coon ever came back?
I had a pet raccoon when I was young. Got him froma vet. Who gave him his shots. Momma was killed and some lady brought them to the office. We had to bottle feed him. He eventually lived in a and we would call him down to eat. He was pretty cool. One day he just disappeared. Dont know if he went looking for a gf or what happened.
Same story here, mom racoon got hit by a car and we ended up raising one of her kits. Thing turned into a big one by that fall and would come and go as it pleased. But, they sure are filthy and can be a disease ridden animal.
We had one too until it became too unruly. Had to release it in the wild and left a bag of dry dog food with it.
Knew a guy that their family tradition was to get a coon in the spring to raise and instead of turkey it was Thanksgiving coon on the barbecue.
Baby raccoons are fun, we have raised a few, they are trouble makers in the house. Once they start getting into there adult hood it's times for them to go on there own. My parents have had a lot of trouble the last few years with coons eating there chickens though so they have been getting the treatment
Raccoons are really greasy, an old boy that used to live down the road said they were nasty to eat. I took his word for it. I have seen mother raccoons throw their young ones out or at dogs to save their own arse.
Cute little suckers. I had a girlfriend that had two of them as pets when I was a kid. They were super fun critters. There was not a kennel that could contain them - and not a cabinet that they couldn't get into.
