Umm, I don't know why, good question. I had a friend that managed a 7-11 and he changed his pump limits higher. Then we have a "general store" here that is a Conoco too, and they abide by Conoco limit of $250 so they had to run WWW's debit card many times when he got my pistol there (the are FFL too).

PS yooperdave , 711 was late 90's. Conoco here is a few years ago if that matters.

Lot of places have those limits, I would run into that when I was over the road driving. Nothing like swiping a card three times to fill your rig up. It would be an incredible PIA now.
One of the local card trols had a lot of complaints after they opened several years ago, they changed to $500, the MFA card trols have no limits if you have an MFA card.

My understanding is that it is something to do with credit card fraud...limits how much they can buy I guess...or maybe how much they are "on the hook" for if the CC is stolen?

My wife’s “fill ups” for the week after her 60 mile commute. 17kwh offset by our array costs about $1.19, if we were paying standard rate through the utility it would be about $4.20.

Yup. That's it. Started a bit over 20 years ago when we were travelling via motor home. It started with just a few but quickly most began doing it too. A PITA.

Just be careful. On a bike, you are solidly at the bottom of the 'bleed chain' should you get in an accident and there are a ton of distracted drivers and inconsiderate drivers on the roadways today. Bikes are nice and an efficient way to get from point A to point B but they can also be lethal. I know, I own 4.

Oh I'm acutely aware. Whenever I'm riding I assume nobody sees me and more often than not, I'm right. I also try to avoid congested areas as much as I can.

I don't believe so. The station where we fuel at has a $99.99 limit or 30 gallons whichever comes first, but then it's a Kroger fueling stop and their per gallon discount only applies to the first 30 gallons pumped. I don't believe that most pumps can register over $99.99 in one shot anyway.

Good deal. Yeah that'll save a chunk of change, especially in these times.

Hopefully they are 'on time' people. Nothing worse than waiting around for people when you gotta get going.

I have this problem in Europe and Asia with my job. It’s almost as if market conditions are the actual cause, not some bogey man… ;)

I would expect other countries to have higher prices....just as much as I expect California to have higher prices

Now or later really don't matter much, it's gonna be expensive no matter what. A couple cents is inconsequential when it's over 5 per unit.

Just think about the commercial truckers and what their fuel costs are. Of course they do pass that on down the line via a fuel surcharge that gets added into the retail cost of goods and services.

Brandon’s 'Transitory inflation'... A bad dream. The inflated cost of everything is the most egregiously levied tax there is. Everyone suffers.

Patently curious as to how much you solar array cost? I'm pretty sure it wasn't free.

The fuel pump didn't cost me a cent, the only thing I pay for is the product it delivers.

I have no issue with toaster cars at all. They just don't work out here in rural America very well.

I see JD introduced an electric tractor with a 6 hour duty cycle that costs 225 grand. Sure that will be a big seller, not. Having an ag tractor with a 6 hour duty cycle don't cut it when you are in the field from sun up to sun down.

What do you do when the tractor dies? Run an extension cord back to the barn? Or maybe take out a conventional (gas or diesel) powered genny and charge it backup. EV has it's place but not in agriculture, at least with the technology available today.
