The heaviest rains stayed just south of us but we did have a good rain and some lightning overnight.

XXL , I saw that certain parts of Canada were hit bad with the windstorm yesterday and had 7 or 8 deaths, I'm not sure how close you were to the storm but I hope it missed you, family and friends.

We're all fine and thanks for asking. Was at the cottage in the Ottawa Valley and lots of trees and powerlines down. Took us awhile to get home today as a few roads were still blocked with trees and downed power lines. Had to cut our way out of the cottage road. I think our cottage area will be without power for several days if not weeks. Good news is we don't need to go far to get camp wood this year. Our home was fine but the town of Uxbridge north of us is a very different story :zip:

Power came on at 04:00, went back to sleep knowing all in the freezer would be fine. Cut on my fallen tree some more. Blessed with a straight 80 foot trunk that will be cut up and stacked his week.

a tree top in the woods behind the house is all I could find on the property.

Spent several hours today helping the wife's uncle clean up around his farm just north of us, House and pole barn were fine but his 20 acre mature wood lot of mostly maple, beech, oak, hemlock and white pine is trashed. I estimate 30-40 of the trees are snapped off, or completely blown over with exposed root balls :zip: This is the bush I tapped in the spring. We cleaned his yard and lane. Going to be a long clean up.

My family had a close call last Friday. The schools had to shelter in place and delay end of day due to tornados. Wife was home in the basement and told me it sounded like one was near by. After the storm cleared we found out a tornado was on the ground less than a mile from the house. My kids got home on the bus about an hour late. This is the first year my kids have had cellphones and I think it helped ease the wife's nerves since everyone was texting updates about being safe.

As far as I know no one was injured from the tornado. Had a neighbor call after the storm. A dog showed up at their house after the storm and they were trying to find it's owner. Dog had a collar and rabies tags but no address.

Glad to hear nobody hurt. The rabies tag should be on file at the vets office.

The rain has been coming down pretty good since we ate.

Moderate to heavy rainfall is falling across portions of northern
New York and the northern Champlain Valley with rates of 0.25 to
0.75 inches per hour. This will continue through midnight tonight.
Total rainfall accumulations across this area have ranged from 0.5
to 1.0 inches, with locally up to 2 inches, in the past 6 hours.
Additional rainfall accumulations up to 1 inch are possible. This
may lead to ponding water in low-lying areas, including roadways
    and other flood-prone locations.

I was looking at a rainfall map for our area, it looks like we've received 6-8 inches so far this month. I'm sure the skeeters will be out in force.

We had heavy rains yesterday and this morning, sounds like it just moved in your direction.

I did a 60 day rainfall map on NOAA, 10 to 15 inches.

Wish I could take some of that off your hands - Maybe 1.0-1.5" for the month here (in my particular spot). The river that is 4 blocks away is down to late summer levels. 2 weeks ago it was pouring at the grocery store 2 miles to the south and I got zero, not even a sprinkle. The week I was gone for vacation, the rain gauge collected 1/4". I received another 1/4" toward the end of last week. Yesterday afternoon I was at Agway (2 miles to the north), and then to TSC (4 miles south of me). It was raining all the way between the stops, not heavily but at a decent rate. I got a very light sprinkle. Apparently I'm 4 blocks too far to the east to get in on any of these precipitation events.
