I'm about a few hours away from finishing phase 1 here just have a few more rows to fill then on to phase 2.
There is 2 chord in a shed if I need dry stuff from last years stock. Everything that is piled will go into the basement by October
I have enough cedar kindling split for 2 years and another 2 years still in rounds. The split kindling is under the plastic in the picture. The pile is 5' high and 16' long. I'll get some better pictures later.
25x25 on the upper and 25x45 under the old cook house. I put over 10 chord in the basement last year. Ran out of what was in the house in April. Had 3 chord in the back shed for my backup.
There are 2 wood stoves in my basement and one on the main level on the cook house side. House was built around 1850 ish and the cook house was added around 1910, main house has square nails and the cook house has early versions of round nails. House has a total Sq footage of around 6000 ft. We are working on stripping it and properly insulating it. Especially te cook house side, as it only has 4" thick walls.
Really nice job there CK! Always impressed to see other folks stacks as i can appreciate the work involved. A very gratifying feeling.
Now that it decided to stop raining after 3 days I was finally able to do some more at the woodpile today, just about finished my phase 1. And then I get the go ahead to cut a bunch of trees down around the back shed, guess that's going to be phase 3...lol There's probably about 15-20 chord to take down.
How many mouths you feeding in a 6000 sqft living quarters? Are there others helping gather firewood? Kudos to all your efforts!
Finished the wood off today for my phase 1 and started in on phase 2. Had 3 of the 4 saws out for fun, but I used the little 017 the most today. What a difference with that little saw from last fall when I got it. Cheap carb swap and muffler mod pepped the saw up. Need to sharpen the chains on the 62 cc saws for tomorrow, but I was impressed at how the 017 handled a 14" round white birch.
