    Grace Moments

    Healed
    by Sarah Habben

Dumb mosquito. It bit me, and a week later I was flat on my back. My temperature shot up to 104 degrees. An ice pick stabbed my skull. My bones hurt; my skin hurt. Sweat poured off me as I shivered with cold. For eight days I lay in bed—dehydrated, feverish, pain competing with nausea. That dumb mosquito had given me dengue fever.

All that long week I thought about the hemorrhaging woman in the Bible. She had bled for 12 years. Her life’s savings had bled away in search of a cure. “When she heard about Jesus, she came up behind him in the crowd and touched his cloak, because she thought, ‘If I just touch his clothes, I will be healed’” (Mark 5:27,28). If I’d been anywhere near Jesus’ cloak, I likely would have ripped the hem right off in desperation.

Can you relate? Maybe your health or your marriage is bleeding away. Maybe you feel like a social leper. Maybe you feel ugly on the inside and out. Satan’s sting has convinced you that you are unloved, untouchable, unwelcome. You are desperate for healing. Where can you turn?

Like that woman, seek out Jesus. Find him in the Bible. Like that woman, don’t just touch his cloak—grab on to his reputation. Jesus the Promise Maker is also a Promise Keeper. He has taken a world of untouchables and healed us: by loving us, dying for us, forgiving us, and—at just the right time—welcoming us to his heavenly home

Spent the afternoon milling. This one was a bit much for my little motor. Overheated it, but it seems lIke it should be ok.

Have yet to try an SPF log.

Was cutting on the log pile today.

Those danged little black gnats are swarming all over me!

    Maddening.

I don’t know why, but those gnats only came around for a couple of days. Either they didn’t hatch yet because of the cooler spring or they are on the decline here. Thirty years or so ago those things would fly right into your eyes and make it rough to be outside for a couple weeks.

Took the day off to move a little wood spray a few gallons of Glysophate, and run my ATV to be up fitted with a new carburetor.

a gorgeous evening, so some American whiskey and bagpipes are the order of the day

I feel for ya, Dave. We first encountered them when we went house hunting. This was a quiet area that was semi-rural at the time and those buggers almost caused me to rethink the move. It’s probably about ten years or so that they are almost not noticeable. Could be that a lot of people have companies spray their property for mosquitoes and ticks. Not many mosquitoes so far too.

Last minute run yesterday evening to pickup a bearcat 4” chipper 3point PTO style on what I hope was a good deal. Have to unload it and see what I got today. Hope to make life a little easier with limbs and sticks around here.

They aren't bad here this year and neither are the skeeters. I hear tell there are lots of tics but I've seen none so far.
