I got a truckload of this stuff last week. I think it's maple, but it also looks like ash. No leaves or branches left to help id.
Your last score?! Say it ain't so...are you moving to Florida or something?! Yeah looks like some flavor of Maple...need bark pics to narrow it down.
Maple by the way it splits. I think ash is stringier. I dont get much either. Plenty of maple. Not a lotta ash...... Lol.
Without seeing other replies i say maple. If bark looks like ash its more than likely Norway maple, which ironically has similar btus and splits like ash IME. Could possibly be sugar maple which is even better. See if you can load bark pics MaineMtnMan
Norway maple 100%. They have that super white meat with the dark band in the center. Also the smell of wood is very faint, not strong and pungent like Ash. But splits amazing, dries super fast, and has pretty good output. Produces a lot of ash though. I like Red Maple better because it creates less ash and a lot of coals.
Definitely try to resize pics to load. Anything bigger than like 8.5 mb will give you a "security error" when trying to post here. I agree it looks a lot like all the Norway maple I have processed, without looking at the bark, which will really help with the ID.
