So you don't know how much a "fill up" is? I have a client w/ a Tesla and he said a 200ish mile charge was about $12-15. I'm so intrigued about the idea of rooftop solar charging a commuter for free.

That sounds about right, maybe a little low. I don’t have a Tesla so I’m not sure how much it costs to charge at a Tesla charger. One of the best things about Tesla is their charging network, which is pretty extensive but is only available to Tesla owners.

My Ioniq 5 came with two years of free charging at Electrify America chargers. The charging stations are typically at WalMarts or other shopping areas. I took some screen shots of my last charging session on the way home from that trip. It would have cost me $.43/kwh or about $22 for 51kwh. My car if driven as efficiently as possible could go ~200 miles on 51kwh.

BTW you are in a bit of a desert for public fast chargers. When I left your house I went to the only one in the area at the visitors center in Gettysburg and it’s a pretty slow one at only 50kw.

Backwoods Savage , gas went up ten cents a gallon overnight in our area, a healthy $4.79.

The last I checked it was the same price around here, it was over five bucks a gallon when winter started but kept going up.

We put on between 150-160k miles per year on our trucks. I was figuring the other day that at current rates we would be paying 50-55 k per year.

That is terrible Gary. I was figuring the possible cost of a PA trip. Wow. If the prices keep on most if not all of my summer travelling will be reduced to going back and forth to the mailbox rather than putting liquid gold in the gas tank.

And nothing but a deaf ear turned to pleas for relief.

I know someone who is currently paying over $125 weekly for one vehicle. Welcome to $6500 annual fuel costs.

I read yesterday that Bobby Goodson all terrain logging has gone out of business due to inflation......sad.

I can do that almost daily. Luckily I get paid mileage and I can actually make a little on it. Not like in the good ol days of under $2 a gallon way back in January 2021.

Guys this is a really all about the level of investment. Do you remember two years ago when oil West Texas intermediate; went to -$37 a gallon for a day. The oil company sure do. The major oil companies from 2010 to 2020 Stock price and Investment was 47% over 10 years or barely above the cost of inflation.

Nobody wants to build a $5 billion pipeline; if they end up not being able to predict the future demand with more and more people going to electric vehicles. So future demand is not guaranteed therefore they’re just turning profits back to the shareholders.

Politicians on either side, want to make them a scapegoat when times are good.
And our refineries, we have not a built a new one since the 70s, are getting old and becoming less efficient.

I’m awake, so I’ll explain further, since you asked so nicely;)

This is a thread complaining about fuel prices; most of which are transportation fuels. Transportation fuels are: gasoline, diesel, Jet fuel Etc.
These products are made by refining crude oil.

Are we on same page to this point?

Yes they have built micro refineries that do 40,000 barrels a day. The last real refinery built by Marathon in Louisiana in 1977 handles in excess of 400,000 barrels a day.

I can’t speak for all the other refineries but I do know Marathon in Detroit did a huge upgrade about 8 years or so ago . Seems like it allowed them to refine heavy crude or something like that .

Wishlist I am not in business but pay close attention as it effects my pocketbook and economy. My assumption would be that was to get heavy crude from Canada, because of pipe line delay, pretty easy to ship it down Great Lakes.

To not further derail poor Dennis thread
    Here today $
    Propane. 6.25
    Off road 5.99
    Gas at station 4.55
