Visited my dad today outside of Providence. Roger Williams Park was created in 1871, so there are some big big trees. These were some of the biggest. Red oaks , probably 5-6 ft diameter at the base.
Those are HUGE! Missed your posting Steve. Its always rewarding (to us tree nerds) to stop and admire the size of an old tree. Pictures seldom do them justice. If only they could talk!
