We have a lot of guess the log weight posts so I figured I’d switch it up. The other day I had to put the 36” bar on my Husky 390. It felt considerably heavier than my normal 24” bar so I decided to weigh both scenarios. I made sure to fill the gas and bar oil for each weighing. The bars are both standard Oregon bars. So without looking up specs, who wants to guess the weight of each saw/bar and chain combo?
Lot of good guesses so far. I will say, I was surprised at how small the difference is between the two. I would have personally guessed there would be a bigger gap
The rare occasion i use the 36 bar i notice how nose heavy the saw is. If i used a longer bar saw for multiple tanks of gas in a cutting session, i would invest in light weight bars. Two of my saw came with light weight bars...12" on my 201tc, and 25" Tsumura on the 400 which i swap around to the other saws. Are the bars lightweight Joe? For someone who runs saws as much as you do im surprised you dont have them.
19 lb 10 oz with the 36 19 dead nuts with the 24 All I use now are reduce weight bars, they make a substantial difference.
Full 390 with 24” standard oregon bar is 22.5 pounds while the saw with 36” standard oregon bar is 25. I would have guessed it was more than a 2.5 pound difference. The saw feels much heavier with the longer bar but probably because it’s nose heavy and not as balanced.
