I just have a couple small patches of snow left on my property. I did a perimeter patrol this evening. I think I may have scared a mallard hen off her nesting site.

Worked on the shop today. Got the old sheeting removed, insulation repaired, and new OSB hung. Also go the corner posts for the lean-to set in place. I have 3 line posts left to set but at least the holes are dug.

Garth Brooks concert in South bend was great. Some neat pics I got. The new thing is to turn your phone flashlight on instead of a lighter, cool effect none the less. IMG20220507211759.jpg IMG20220507220629.jpg

Heck, if that's how you do your perimeter patrol, you very well may have scared a neighbor or two right off the turlet!

Crazy good weather here. Sunny, 78, and a nice breeze to keep it comfortable.

Got my posts all set and header done. Laying out rafters tomorrow evening.

Woke up early today so I decided to make a rafter template and it fit great. Took it down to the other end and it was 1" too short. Double checked my posts and they are the same distance from the shop at the corners. Get the level and find out the wall is 1" out of plumb on the east side.

Grr. Now every rafter has to be cut different. It won't be too bad, but nothing is ever easy with this place.

I will never buy another house built between 1940ish and 1970ish again. I've owned two now and they both sucked. Built by men who grew up during the depression, used every piece of scrap they could, and cut a lot of corners to save materials.

Went to start the old ford to load with wood. Won't start. Fed gas into air intake ran for a moment, so I'm getting air and spark. Frame rail fuel pump not running for one second when key is turned on. Verified connections to pump. Time to get out the chiltons manual. Tank pump is 2 years old frame pump is 4 years old. Hoping its not an electrical issue.
