You know we just hung some wireless access points in the Transportation building at work and I literally stopped while renaming them and thought to myself this abbreviation isn't going to go over well I started with TRANS-AP-1 changed it to OPS-AP-1 for operations. Pretty sad I had to catch myself but with todays society and cancel culture I am not taking any chances.....
Regardless of gas prices and profit how did we get here with gas prices so high? Kinda like covid, nobody cares who or where it came from and I know we can't change things but it holds people accountable. Accountability seems to be lacking in the country.
I wasn't talking about holding big oil specifically accountable I was referring to really why prices went up so fast in the first place. Same with covid how did it originate what really happened, how do we avoid again, etc...
Diesel is over $6gal here in NJ. Earlier this week it was $6.49gal. It dropped to $6.09 yesterday. A friend of mine who owns/operates triaxle dump trucks currently has a fuel bill of over $600/day per truck .
Last I read awhile ago was OPEC still isn’t pumping oil at pre covid levels . With these current prices I would think demand would drop some . I know I’m combining more trips to save some money .
Supply and demand, and supply has been intentionally handcuffed. Take off the handcuffs and we go back to the prices we had a year and a half ago. This didn't happen overnight and it CAN be fixed and will be eventually.
Welp... that $4.46... is now $4.52. So... today... my truck would cost about $126 to fill... why does it feel like that will be a bargain in another week? When I fuel up the school van, it's from a 4000 gal tank at the town's depot. The tank is split with the other end being 11,000 gal of diesel... Perty glad I'm not writing the check when it is filled. Holy chit... Oh yeah... firewood sales oughta be thru the roof this year!
Couldn’t agree more , supply has been intentionally handcuffed by the US banning Russian imports . That’s a another topic in itself of should we or not have banned Russian imports . Quick research showed the price of oil per barrel rose 32% from October 2o20 to January 2021 . This is when things starting turning around post covid somewhat and demand didn’t meet supply . Lots of free money was handed out and people spent it which drove up demand for everything . The US was 13 million barrels a day pre covid and now it’s 11 million a day . When the price of a barrel of oil dropped to zero ( the good old days Lol) many smaller oil companies in the US went bankrupt and closed and that’s where our shortage is from mostly . Also oil companies need employees and with the labor shortage that is having effect on US oil . OPEC is still not pumping pre covid levels as well and that’s a major supply of oil .
First gas I bought this year was last week, 5G of etoh free for OPE mix, that’ll last me a year. 15K miles on our two EVs so far this year, I don’t even charge at home for commuting…free charging at work, just got back from a 1500 mile road trip to PA, no problems finding DC fast chargers along the way, 4 fast charging stops for a total of about an hour, even those were “free”…came with the purchase of the car.
