Hey guys gotta 361 in mint shape off a reputable eBay seller in 2020. Haven’t used it much til today. Saw starts n runs fine til u get it into the wood and it just dies. Saw has always had ethanol free gas. Any ideas? Thanks.
I would say clogged carb but you say it has never seen ethanol. I would try to open the high jet as a starting point.
To much air for the amount of fuel so it doesn’t have power. Short of air leak check, Try richening up the H jet and see if that improves in the cut. If it does and your needing two turns out or more, you might have an air leak. I’d also replace the fuel filter. I’d do that first thing.
Agree with ideas so far. Check easy things first: fuel filter, air filter, spark plug and tune. Sent from my SM-G930VL using Tapatalk
My little Stihl 310 did the same thing, two Stihl dealers told me nothing was wrong with it so I bought a parts saw and put the carb from the parts saw in the 310, it has been running great since without any problems.
It cuts fine on small wood but when I bury the saw into some big wood it dies and stalls out. Too rich maybe?
My "practically a virgin" 361 did something similar a couple years ago when i bought it. Had dealer fix it as i had another saw to bring in. Dont know what he did though. Isont tinker with carb settings at all. Ive tried and failed...more than once. One reason i like the Mtronic saws more and more.
I can't remember witch way I adjusted mine, it was longer than 5 minutes ago, I'm at 5500 ft elevation.
I would open the H a 1/4 turn and try it. As said anything more than a half turn and better off to look deeper. If it's stumbling when revving up turn the L open a 1/8 turn at a time.
I appreciate the suggestions made by everyone. I will try adjusting the carb when I get a chance. I just have a hard time believing it’s the carb adjustment and not something else. I’ve never had a saw run fine and completely die in the wood cuz of an off carb tuning.
I have several times. Used saws that others couldn't or didn't tune properly. Hopefully that's all it is and its free to try.
