    They are common around here, but it’s rare to see one this big and most of the time older ones have cavities. I’d say it’s easily 20-22” dbh. In a location that should keep it safe from urban development.

    That is a nice one. We have some down here, as well.

    The USDA native range map shows it reaching the SW corner of Pennsylvania, but mostly a Southeastern tree.

    Same here, never heard of it before. The bark resembles cotton wood.

    Imo they are rivaled only by Sugar Maple for fall color. It’s a slow growing tree, so the one in the picture has to be an oldie.

    It does resemble it, but a BL tree that big would have very distinct bark.

    Looks like a cross between BL & sassafras

    My mom had a pink weeping cherry she planted in her yard back in the late 1970's When it bloomed it was quite the sight. Had to sell house few years ago.
