Purchase a tube of seamermate from Home depot. This stuff is tough and is used to seal gutters.Coat the gloves fingertips and thumbs with the seamermate.Let dry. This stuff keeps the wear of the gloves finger and thumbs from breaking down so fast.

My problem is usually it's just the thumb and first and middle fingers that rub through first, usually just where I grip stuff. So I keep all those gloves in a pile and cut off the still good finger sleeves and glue them over pairs with the holes using a flexible fabric glue. They get a little stiff, but stretch out my leather glove purchases!

Interesting, I have some seamermate tubes laying around, I may have to give this a try.
This is also very interesting. Like most, I throw them away once they break down. Instead of flexible glue, I wonder how sewing them together with braided fishing line would be.

I did try duct tape once, but that was a failure...

Don't let the fingers and thumbs touch each other while the seamermate is wet or they'll stick together and good luck getting them apart after that stuff drys.I was just using these gloves while splitting and stacking and the wood didn't affect the gloves. These gloves already had holes in the fingers where I most handle the wood.I got tried of tossing gloves due to worn through finger sections on glove so I coated all the fingers and thumbs.Let it dry overnight and good to go next day.

I use something similar on my winter weight gloves. Been using it in the roofing industry for years. When the latex wears through to the fabric ill give them a coating. I rotate several pairs. Never tried it on the Summer weight ones. Normally get tossed when worn out as they are cheap. IMG_0916.JPG IMG_0918.JPG

My gloves last forever since I only use them when it’s cold or if I’m dealing with pine. Really cool idea though.

Ya I've used geocel on roofs.Gaco is better by far but since inflation it has gone from $ 237.00/5 gal pail to $ 519.00/5 gal pail.People can't afford it unless your well off.Try the seamermate. It's stronger than geocel.

That can is almost full and ive had it for years. For the price you say the other stuff costs ill use the geocel for now. I only use those gloves when it gets below 35 of so.

I have a pair of gloves from my military days. Got them in the late 80's they will last forever. I leave them in the house. Can't stand wearing gloves when working.

You're one tough SOB if you don't wear gloves when it's below zero out.

I use to never wear gloves. Now it seems I can't go without them. When I do go without, it seems I wind up with a deep splinter 95% of time.

When i was a teen i never wore gloves making wood. I can work without them today but my main issue is grip. Thick, dry, old man working hands skin.

Brad I wasn't suggesting to use Gaco for your gloves no use seamermate for your gloves. It comes in a tube in the gutter section at home depot.
