I might have known! I wonder if they come in steel toes? Or maybe the skip tooth version of steel toes.
Ouch! Wasn't as bad as yours but years ago I was working under a pickup and the wrench slipped and pinched the tip of a finger between the wrench and frame. I knew it hurt because I couldn't swear. Crawled out and looked and the tip was dangling by a flap of fingerprint. Went to bathroom washed it up paper towel and electrical tape. To my amazement it took and healed back on. A guy I knew years ago lost the 1st joint of his middle finger in a combine accident. To make it appear less noticeable after it healed up he had a nail tattooed on it, actually did a good job hiding it. Heal up fast.
Stuff can happen that fast, even with you fully focused and paying attention. Glad it wasn't worse. Heal up quickly!!
Getting better. Throbbing subsided. Used the splitter yesterday...very carefully. Modified the lefty glove.
Maybe you should take it easy? I bet that thumb would be pretty good for hitchhiking. You could hitchhike down here and supervise on a barkless locust score I am fielding.
UPDATE: one month today. Looks a lot better, but still can only grip very lightly. Stays covered when working and at night sleeping. Kinda have to retrain my thumb that its okay to grip there. Caution: graphic pics from this morning. Many thanks to all the well wishers. You folks are the best!
Looks much better but still tender. Hey I once spent a weekend at a girls med school dorm so you can take that as official.
Lookin good buZZsaw BRAD ... it's crazy how little our hands can do without a thumb. Glad you still got yours...
I hate to break it to you BB, but your dreams of being a hand model just got harder to achieve. How are your feet?
