50f outside, small oak fire to take the chill off. Not too long left before the burning season is over now.

We got 45* and into the 30s tonight. Ash and cherry in the stove. Maybe put a few pieces of locust in for the overnight.

At 50f, it won't have to run much. You're doing fine! :handshake:

Relax and hit the hay early.

Is that English Oak, white oak family? We have some of that growing here sporadically and I wouldn’t hesitate to try it someday if one ever came down.

Some of y'all are Really getting Some WEATHER.
What ever happened to April showers bring May flowers ?
Currently 24°F ambient temperature here. Got up to the high 40s. Wind quit by 8 pm
Next 3 days are forecast to be Sunny. So that will bring an end to the winters loggin season. Roads will not refreeze overnight.
Next week they are calling for days where it doesn't freeze overnight.
Oh, ya. Fire killed white Spruce in the woodstove.

It is indeed. I haven’t burnt much of it until now but first impressions are very good. Probably a bit overkill for the current temps but it’s all I’ve got at the moment.

25 but the ground is not white. Supposed to rise to 52. That will feel good.

41° and another mixed load of silver maple and dead/barkless elm skinnies. It should warm up another 10° by this afternoon.

And just like at Backwoods Savage today there is no new snow on the ground. Only the old remaining snow is still here. Rain forecasted for this evening should help knock it down.

The rain overnight turned to snow when the temps dropped but it's gone already, thanks for the Poor Man's Fertilizer.

Had to burn overnight for the first time in quite a while. Load was ash. 68F indoor and something like 35F outdoor when I left for work.

It was 32° when I got up at 4:30 this morning, and has since risen to 35°. Silver maple and barkless elm skinnies got the house nice and toasty again. Looks like I'll definitely still be burning into early Mayvember (or beyond?) Yesterday evening I cut and split a bunch more scrap pallet wood for kindling. At least I'm prepared for the extended chill now.

Finally above freezing in the morning. Wet, but nice.
