    Felled a couple more dead chestnut oaks today. Not sure if either tree will make for lumber. Even though they still had their bark, they were dead for a while and pretty dried/checked.     Those rock oaks appear to be the same vintage as mine. Our big gipsy moth kill off was in 2015 so any still standing are full of nasty surprises when you bang a wedge in. It’s a shame because the heart wood is still perfect.

    That's about right. I just wish I could have gotten to them earlier, but there's only so much one man can do.
