Had a dead red in the yard, so I finally cut it down. One more after this and I can get back to the hauled in wood piles.
Looks like I can only use half the pics again :emb:

The tree went left, but landed in the road. I could hear it fracturing while I was making the back cut. Ooph

Oh ffs it’s frustrating when you can’t post half the pics. It’s done and ready to split.

File is probably too big...just edit them to make the file smaller...sometimes just cropping the pic a lil will do it.

Looks like that one was a few years past due! They sure do make a mess at the top when they're like that.

Yea I tend to let mine get past due before cutting them down. Most of the trunk was solid and there is less limbing to do when everything breaks off on it’s own. The city will only pick up stuff < 6’

    Nice Job!

There’s a spot I go once in a while called Warren Tavern, the very north side of Boston, Charlestown. Hanging from the ceiling is a section of sewer pipe that dates to Paul Revere, as does the building.
It’s exactly that condition of tree that was used for that, back in the day.

They used hollow logs, and made stave pipes too...this article talks about wooden pipes in the second paragraph.

Good job sir! Looks like it was a good day for cutting too. How many more dead ones to come down?

It was perfect weather for making firewood. I have one more bigger Red Oak to crash and that’s it, unless something dies this summer. There are some live trees near the house I want to cut, but the wood piles are calling.
