Winter is drunk and needs to go home and mother nature really needs a strong dose of her bipolar meds!

Where is your campground? More importantly, which way does all your snowpack drain? Hoping north! Good luck with the mess.

Campground is just north of Devils Lake, about a hour NE of me. Most of the area most impacted by this system will drain into the Missouri River and its tributaries and in a week or so when the melt starts it will be heading south. Hopefully it is a slow melt and has a chance to soak in because we were in a drought going into winter and a slow melt would really help replenish the much needed moisture.

I though most of that area was in the Missouri Basin. That heavy wet snow should provide some moisture if it doesn’t leave too fast as you said.

Was there any frost in the ground before this snow fall ?

Frost was starting to come out but you didn't have to dig too deep to still find some.

Reminds me of April 1 2001... same thing at our old farm. 24" of heavy wet snow... ugh.

Just saw this morning Minot ND got the brunt of things, NW of me about 100 miles. 36" of snow, peak gusts 63 mph. The dome at the college collapsed and many building roofs either failed or are severely damaged. We are now in the path of another storm system for Easter Sunday.

Thanks for the update, hopefully this round won’t be as bad. I didn’t realize that there was a college in Minot. Stay safe & warm.

Couple pictures the DOT put out as they are clearing roads, not sure on location other than a frozen white wasteland. Screenshot_20220415-152259_Facebook~2.jpg Screenshot_20220415-152352_Facebook~2.jpg

Ugh!:headbang: We are in the 3-6" band of snow today and it is snowing and howling 30 mph and gusting over 40 mph. And just saw talk of another major winter system moving through next weekend. :hair: I did however take some of our food we had to our neighbors (she is upper 60s daughter taking care of 93 year old dad) because their plans got canceled due to weather today. They thanked me up and down. Then the dad said his mother always swore by if it rained or snowed on Easter, that the next 7 Sundays will have precipitation. I've never heard that before but it sure looks like next weekend we are going to get something.

Grandad & Grandmother always said that also, grandmother kept track of the weather on a calendar. It was pretty accurate, mother jots the weather down on a calendar as well so we have a pretty good track record of it being accurate.

It was nice of you to take the neighbors some grub. I am sure that they appreciated it very much.

Hopefully your snow storms are about over for the year. We had about 1/2” or so today but it’s all melted off now.

Around here it was the next 6 weeks. Also the wind direction on Easter will be common for the next month.
