I know the weather in spring can always be bipolar but man it seems like I’ve burned a lot of wood the past 3-4 weeks. Lots of clouds and day time highs in the low to mid 50’s with lows slightly above freezing most mornings. Today didnt make it out of the 40’s. We get another tease and may hit 80 this week before spending another 3-5 day stretch in the low 50’s early next week (my spring break). I will be opening the pool in about 5 weeks so enough of this crap already!

The last few weeks before the weather breaks for good always drag on. I’m on the fence about bringing in more wood, making more kindling, etc. We’re almost there though

Youre not running out of wood are you Joe?

Be careful what you wish for. You'll be baking in the hoarders field of dreams making firewood before you know it. Ill take the chill for as long as it lasts. Just tired of my hands drying and cracking.

Can your OWB be hooked up to the pool in its "off" months? just in case. :shiver:

I have thought about hooking the owb to the pool for early season but I would have to run the line around/under my patio, septic lines and concrete walkway to the pool.
Out of wood…what does that even mean?? Lol

    Understand the feeling jrider

Yesterday was a stereotypical Spring day here, sunny, sometimes quite windy, snow, rain, more sun.. etc
    :picard:

Had a dusting of snow this morning as well.

    It shouldn't be much longer.

I totally understand. We had wet snow here this morning and have had a fire going all day.

It's been cool down here as well, low- mid 30's past few mornings, maybe 60+ for the high. Then 80 next week...

Same here. Getting tired of it. Don't get me wrong , I love burning wood but it's starting to become more of a chore as the season drags on.
I really thought I would have shut it down by now but ; nope not yet.
Chilly here again this morning so fire is going once again.

Really looking forward to spring time.

I start using the heat pump in April. Usually runs about $100 for the month and let’s me get started on spring stuff instead of dealing with the stove.

It could be worse. This picture was taken in Houghten, MI 4/8/2022

Also a couple years ago while getting ready for our spring GTG Chvymn99 took a picture of me holding up a chunk of ice and there was still snow on the ground. That would probably have been around 4/23.

Yes could be worse for sure. Better be careful as to what we wish for.
Actually the winter here could have been worse. Burned more wood than ever and did have our really cold spells but we are headed the other way now. A little chilly here this morning but warmer days in the forecast .

This spring shoulder season has been a grind!!
It was spitting sleet and snow this weekend, wind was a bear. Yesterday we burned all day. Last few weeks starting 2 fires a day, as I refuse to use oil furnace. Moving some better BTU wood to the shed this evening as a "cold" stretch is coming after a brief warm up.
I remind myself it is spring in PA, but the grind is getting on my nerves.
