Found this add on Craigslist in Denver. The first pic has a very distinctive bark. There is no BL in Colorado that I am aware of? I’ve heard rumor that it grows in small clumps along the South Platte river in Denver, but I’ve never seen it.

I feel like this is a blurry pic of Big Foot:rofl:

    Certainly warrants a timely investigation.
Where’s Brad? He can smell that stuff though the electrons of a digital photo.

It certainly seems to have the potential to be BL by looking at the photo, another option would be Cottonwood but I have never seen bark that deeply furrowed on a CW that small. It would definitely warrant a look-see as jo191145 said.

Im not sure. It is really deeply furrowed, almost too much to be black locust, at that size. Comparison of BL that is off my drive. 20220409_083547.jpg 20220409_083537.jpg

Maybe BL gets more furrowed in Colorado from everything that's in the air. :smoke:

I agree with you. Most smaller diameter cottonwood has relatively smooth bark. The bark typically gets more deeply furrowed on the larger trunk portions.

FB marketplace has gone so full commercial it’s become almost useless. Was a fairly good platform until they decided they wanted more money from it than is circulated through it. Governments do the same.

I agree. I thought that was funny too. Maybe they mean that they can drop it off at your house or something?

Is it close to you...in Colorado terms. Close by here is ten minutes or less. How about there? Of course for BL im sure youd be willing to go farther.

It's over an hour away from me. If it's not BL, I'm not making the trip. Bad part of town too.

Doesn't look like enough to drive that far...even for black locust.
