Lucky he didn't kill anyone. I can only imagine how fast he wanted to run after it went the wrong way!

Every time I see those ads it blows my mind to think someone who is a licensed arborist would cut down a tree for free just to get the wood. Just goes to show that some people are morons!

I see ads like this quite a bit. They must find suckers, cause the ads keep popping up.

Cutting downed trees for free wood is bad enough, cutting standing trees near houses.

    :loco:

My neighbor had a "free tree guy" take down a tree... And his power line, the power pole WITH the transformer on it, the over head to the house, and it pulled the service entrance from the peak of the house, including the meter socket , to the basement where it went into the house.
The free-tree-guy even had the tree tied to his truck, but some how it fell 90° from it's intended path.
(Wish i coulda been there to see it)

Surprisingly, our co-op didn't even charge him for the pole and putting back up the 200' of wire.

I only cut down trees that can't reach anything expensive. Lol

That brings up another good point. Why in the hell would someone try to lay a 140ft tree down in a neighborhood?! (Guessing it was a neighborhood, don't recall seeing it) and he did this for the firewood? You can't be that desperate.

My cousin is a cemetery superintendent. Got some prices to take 3 big trees down. Prices were all around 11-14k. Told me how expensive it was. I asked him what each one of the headstones under the 2 foot diameter branch wood cost. How about the historic district stone wall?

People really need to get 1970's pricing out of there heads. Every tree guy around here automatically gets a crane now. Those cranes have to be close to $500/hour. Guys in the bucket aren't working for $15 cash. Those days are over.

Same cousin laughed at me when I told him what I was asking for a utility trailer I was selling. Sold in two days.

I prefer cutting trees that there would be absolutely no way they could reach another structure or vehicle,
I have cut trees down that would be considered easy drops on friends yards with their help, but there's no way I would tackle some of the monsters I've seen in ads around here!!
