I use two coolers. That's a lot of cigars capacity! I bought this cooler from wally world because of the molded grooves on the inside of it. (link below) Then, I bought some white wire shelving and cut it to size to slide into those grooves. Worked pretty good. Have to stand the cooler on one of the ends, but you'll have three different levels of storage. It also requires shimming the cooler in place since it is pretty wobbly. After 4-5 years of using it that way, I got rid of the shelves and stacked the coolers on top of themselves. Igloo 48 qt. Laguna Ice Chest Cooler - Blue - Walmart.com Regarding the 2nds, I enjoy them and much like Chvymn99 I also have my limits of what I spend on any bid. Being where I reside, my governor has decided to not only add state tax to shipping, handling and cigars but also to impose an additional excise tax on every purchase. If you live in a state where there is no excise tax, you're already almost $10 less than what I would pay.
Just like any auction it only takes two people to want an item to drive the price up. I figured $2-$3 was a great deal $4-$5 is about mid for Oliva 2nds. The Nicaraguan 2nds we’re going for around $2 so I figured the Oliva’s would be in the $4-$5 range minimum.
I was looking at this humidor & someone has already bid as much as it can be bought outright for. I suppose if they already have an order that’s going to be shipped out, there are a few $ to be saved on shipping. I like 1/2 price or less (averaged off 2-3 other sites listed prices ) occasionally higher if I really want it or get all competitive & loose my mind and keep bidding…
yooperdave That is the cooler I was looking at just for overruns & stuff. price is right & I liked the slots. Chvymn99 I looked at those coolers also & liked the looks of them but I am not sure I need one that big BUT I also wasn’t planning on accumulating 400-500 cigars either. I am already keeping most of my cigars at my brothers house while I wait on Mama to clean out some space in a closet. She will chit if I go sticking a 48 or 100 qt cooler in there also.
I had a Drew Estate Undercrown Shade Robusto this evening. I wasn’t too impressed, I am becoming more & more convinced that I don’t like Connecticut wrappers. Maybe they just need more time in the humidor? I just got them Friday. I seem to prefer Maduro wrappers though.
I think you'll find those MLM enjoyable. Seems I grabbed a bundle quite some time ago and liked them. San andres maduro wrapper, right? When I win an auction, I add up all of the costs involved. I add in the sales tax, the excise tax, the shipping handling costs and then the bid price. Then I'll figure out the cost per cigar. Seems like no matter what, it always totals up to at least 3.00 per cigar. You are lucky Iowa hasn't jumped on the excise tax band wagon yet.
On my order of Cohiba’s that I posted earlier: It was 35 total cigars, tax was$7.11 & shipping was $9.00, so just under $.50 a cigar.
I was just talking about the added price via taxes & shipping. No way to forget about the cost of the stogies. If I had scored Cohiba’s for under $1 each, I would of been burning these pages up rambling about it.
yooperdave There are some Rocky Patels & Alec Bradley 2nds on CI MMO, just in case you needed a gentle push towards ordering some more cigars. Lol.
Welp, haven’t had a cigar in 9 years, but for some reason (reason is you turds here-lol), I jumped on cigar bid and have a couple options coming in the mail. Now, to make that little “coolador” …
Glad to see that I am not the only easily corruptible person here. I have a small 9-10 qt coolidor for my flavored cigars, a 48qt should be showing up today for my sleepless nights browsing & ordering sessions…
I’ll send you 5 of those Oliva 2nds for 5 of those if you want to do something like that. Whatever works for you. They are supposed to be here Saturday I believe.
I see those Brickhouse Fumas are made with trimmings rather than long leaf maybe that has an effect on the flavor.
