200 gals fill up a couple weeks ago $ 3.29/gal

That is hot water usage as the last fill up was in late April so minimal oil heat. O/T but I need a bigger stove so I NEVER need oil heat. Alternatively, I can teach the dog to fill the stove, but I fear he'd forget to wait for the secondaries to ignite before shutting it down.

i bought july 4th weekends at 3.20 for minimum 150 gallons. that should last me 5 or 6 years. a week later it dropped to 3.15 and has sat there since.
i wouldnt bother heating with wood if NG was an option for me...

NG rates much be different by location. Seasonal rates change here for winter heating and theres no way I could
    afford to heat this house.

I always just op off the tank on the fill-ups, so April - August @ 200 gals 50 gal/ month. It may have been March so maybe 5 months... which is 40 gal/ month. At oil prices that's about $120 a month.

The oil heat does kick on during the winter on the cold nights where I don't wake up to load the stove. I figure my sleep is more important than my wallet.

The gas company heat announced raising the price 48%. Said for an average house it would "only" be $50-75 extra a month. Yeah... "only"
