I have squirrels and chipmunks here and woodchucks, I have a small live trap with wire mesh tied to the cage cause they can escape from a 1" hole.
they were brought over here in 1948 to kill off the red ones, because there were so many but it got out of hand they killed to many, now we have to kill the greys to save the reds,
This reminds me of a Simpsons episode where they brought lizards to eat bugs or something like that, when overpopulation becomes a problem, introduce snakes to eat lizards, when snakes become problematic, introduce gorillas that eat snakes, but we will have a gorilla problem, that's the beauty of it, when winter comes the gorillas freeze to death.
All this rambling about squirrels & no one has mentioned black squirrels. All we have are red squirrels with an occasional black one seen. A town about 25 miles west of us has an abundant population of black squirrels. Something killed a chit load of the tree rats off around here a few years, I am just starting to see a few darting around again.
The other day, I had 6 grey squirrels on the snow looking for droppings/leftovers that the birds knock off the birdfeeder. Saves me raking just in case the snow ever melts.
With all the technocrap they have today they need a notification sent when it goes off so you can go get the tasty morsels right away to get them cleaned up for the crock pot.
