Something that actually helped me with CAD is porting. It became quality over quantity. Once you have one or three ported, all the rest have not much use.
91 southbound. Just north of exit 14. Truck/rest stop. No log deck just logs laying. Took down most of the wood line between the rest area and the highway. yeah I saw several scores down there. I was just following my phone. Got off exit 15 and drove backroads down to the twin lakes area. Would’ve called ya but I had my sister in the truck. I like to keep those journeys as short as possible
Excellent point. I have thought about that but its nice having to pick what saw to use for the next cut! Maybe someday...maybe!
Oh the rest area. You said truck stop in your original reply which threw me. I did scrounge wood there a couple years ago and have seen the current cutting going on as well. Not a Rest Area for a Wood Hoarder!
Well, if you get several ported, then you can still choose...I would start with the 261, 400 and 500i... Then when you get the 200T... We have to help a brother out...
Years back i came up with the idea of bucking elm into 4" cookies and splitting that way (if larger diameter) after learning the hard way how tough it is to split.
I get a text from the guy Saturday saying i was supposed to take all the wood in per his listing. Thought i was off the hook as i downplayed the quality of the remaining wood. Went back yesterday and he helped me load the PU. A few wheelbarrows of BL bark and the rest random wood from the pile. He really appreciated it. I was going to give it to the landlord but he'll let it sit and its already a year old.
I was able to back into my little PA and stacks at the house. Have a 1/2 cord stack needing some more splits and this will fit the bill perfectly. Bucked as i unloaded and the wood not too bad. Just needs SS. I didnt cut it but thought was cool with wire through it.
I kind of wonder will they ever make a chain that can not only cut wood but also go thru the occasional nail with no problem.Like a combination wood/sawsall chain.
they have carbide tipped chain thats mostly used by firemen on rescue saws. Iv thought of getting one, but sharpening it gets pricey. Ive sliced through countless nails with carbide tipped circular saw blades as well as the sawzall blades...in construction that is.
OPOE dealers may sell them. Ebay too. My issue was how to sharpen them...diamond file exist for that or OPE dealer high fee?
