Nice get Brad. I'm regularly scouring CL and MP on slow time at work looking for that super easy score. That's how I found that big BL I got not long ago.
Frustratingly sore. Shoulder is more so. Range of movement improves daily, but not nearly fast enough for me. Exercising lots of patience.
Load #2. Mostly sugar maple with some BL. Not enough room for the rest i bucked today so a third trip in order. Ran the 400 with a 20" bar. Sucked down a full tank of gas and more. Sliced through a nail, but missed these screws. Dang urban trees! Last pic i split out the nail.
Nice load of wood, buddy. Glad you missed those screws, lot harder than a nail, could wreck a chain for sure.
Update: Had the load of sugar maple on the PU Wednesday and decided to split it right away rather than put in the "to be split later" stack. Not much room left there anyhow. One year old wood with lose bark should be nice and dry for next year. Found more metal but with the splitter. Pulled the last load yesterday. Sugar maple and BL remnants plus a few pieces of red maple. There was more but crappy and with fungi...not worth my efforts. One "round" of BL will be sliced for cookies. Score done. Kinda liking these CL/FBM scores...when they actually respond! Have another lined up.
Heck yeah, I agree. I've scored some really good hoards on cl and mp. I think one of the keys is, when you do get the response, ya gotta pounce!
Hey Brad. I was rolling right through your neighborhood today. A target rich environment for sure. Still plenty of cutting going on down there. Any of you guys up for a little adventure,,,,,,just north of exit 14 there’s a truck stop. Cut down a bunch of trees in there. Didn’t get a good look as I was in the left lane doing 85 following a statie I saw logs tho.
what highway Joe? I like wood adventure, but with gas prices im not feeling adventurous...unless it was BL!
Woops, 91. A little closer to you than that sign I would fathom. Figured maybe Eric Wanderweg would read this and want to hit it up.
It was. Not as heavy as oak, hickory or sugar maple though. I rolled it to the tailboard and proper lifting technique to get it on the truck. Dropped it off at buzz-saw's for milling and helped me unload it. He thinks im a little . Got news for him... i'm a lotta .
Ive learned that for chain saw deals, except i have to stop pouncing. Do you think they allow chain saws in the poor house!
Oh Stop! I think you need another saw. Hey there was a posting for a beautiful 572xp for a really great price. That thing has your name written all over it.
I go that way often and dont remember seeing a log deck. The only cutting was for the power line which has been going on all over in my area not just 91.
No Huskies for me please. Thinking 241 my next saw although a 200 top handle has me intrigued, but those arent cheap.
