As noted in my woodshed materials post, I had a lot of time by myself to think yesterday. Wouldn’t a firewood hoarding show be awesome? Shows like Gold Rush, Big Timber, Deadliest Catch…even Storage Wars are all basically harvesting shows and seem popular. Could you imagine some of our more prolific hoarders driving around, scouting out new sites, determining tree types, processing, selling, talking saws, wood stoves, etc? Negotiating with landowners…doing a quick extraction of an ambiguously owned stash… I’ve never been to a GTG, but I get the sense that there are some really interesting personalities among you. Some are a bit wilder, some are relatively buttoned up…but lots of interesting stuff. It’d be good for a season or two on Netflix anyway.
Like the logging shows where even eating lunch is a near death experience. If Brad had slipped on that ice while loading Black Locust on his truck, he would have been kilt dead by that speeding 18 wheeler. Phew that was a close call.
Dramatically cuts out with a bunch of us running down the tracks holding a round each with faint sirens being heard in the background... NEXT TIME.....on Firewood Hoarders!!!
I seem to remember your theme of bombing down the tracks on one of these, “ whistling Dixie and pumping our way to Freedomville”
There was a reality TV show about four tree removal companies called "Big Bad Wood". It was really BAD as i watched it for its short run. Although a reality show featuring FHC could be interesting. I work alone so he wheels are always turning upstairs and most of my thread titles show it!
Just filming different parts of a GTG would be interesting to many. If you ever get the chance to attend a GTG, do it!
Yep, add some screeching tires, some air horn and shake the camara a little, and a big gasp, then throw in half a dozen commercial breaks with the same dramatic clip before and after and you've got every reality tv show in the last 15-20 years. But about 2-3 years in, you gotta start having competitions for who gets, sells and hauls the most loads...
We would need the picture of the guy trying to start the chainsaw while he is holding the bar between his legs as the cover photo for the show
