Yesterday campinspecter went out by himself and snagged a load of western hemlock. His load from yesterday. So this morning when he was getting ready to head out, I asked if I could come along. He said of course you can come. I get to watch and take pictures while he does the hard work. He had already done quite a bit of prep work and there is a cut up log at his feet just behind him. Really hard to get a good picture of the chips flying. I know everyone likes the sound of a chainsaw running so here it is. Several people on this forum love watching campinspecter split the big blocks. I love the sound of the POP when the splitter hits a knot. So here are the saws that campinspecter used along with the fully load truck. And here is the man himself with all the product of all his hard work. We stopped to let Shadow out for a break so I took a picture of the splitter as I didn't get one earlier. The empty spot for this load of firewood The truck load to go in there. Finished for today. Still need a load and half to finish filling it.
Nice work Mrs. campinspecter and Mr. campinspecter . It has been years since we've burned any eastern hemlock, they're down so I guess it's time I get some. Woodwidow

Great pics and accompanying narrative! I always like seeing pics of how campinspecter tows the splitter with him to the scrounge site. Not practical for me however every time I see your pictures of that setup it makes me rethink taking the splitter with me. Thanks for posting!
That's an interesting splitter. I guess it's only vertical, and the winch on the top side must be how the rounds get lifted up onto the plate. How does the winch lift the round, screw an eye bolt into the top of it?
Great job folks. I can see the pride in his face after a hard days hoarding. Im gonna have to have a talk with campinspecter about letting you run the saw and him being the picture taker!
In an older post (2020), he had a video where he was winching a log over to the splitter. It looks like there is an eyebolt screwed into the log so perhaps that is the same way the rounds are being loaded on the splitter. Wood splitter yarder - YouTube
The video pointed out to me that I have started a bad habit, running the saw one handed where there is a possibility of a kick back!
I guess the splitter has to have some serious weight to it so it doesn't tip over when attempting to pull a heavy log.
Bad habits just seem to creep up on us over time, it's good to have videos to watch yourself, or even someone else to politely point it out.
It is called a log dog and it is pounded into the block. To release it, campinspecter splits the block next to the log dog and winches it out. I will have to look but I think there is a thread on log dogs somewhere in the past.
