I can definately understand her consternation !
For what I'm doing right now, I would welcome 5 below . We are up to around 13 hours of sun up so without some help from some cold air it's a thaw out show.

I just emptied the pallets on my patio, was mainly black cherry, perfect for SS. Going have to reload it with some better wood.
April looking to start on cooler side.

It’s 17*F right now and forecast to hit 13*F tonight. This is ridiculous! On the positive side, the stove is full of cherry and keeping us warm and toasty.

Been in the UP since Friday at a cabin we just bought. It's not been very spring like weather here for sure. Today was the warmest at 28f with a bit less wind. Been burning Pine and Poplar in the fire pit. Burning Oak in the boiler at home. Cabin has no heat source, so we're using a propane heater in here. The bridge was closed Friday due to falling ice. 15f out right now.

21 and slowly rising towards the mid 30s, with black cherry at it again. I staged a small pile of ash shorties on the hearth last night so my wife could keep the stove fed throughout the day today.

Some foul weather beginning this evening with wind, rain, sleet, ice and 8"-12" of snow. Take your pick. :binoculars:

A very windy 35 and dropping fast. Cherry and ash shorties processed back in October/November 2020 are burning phenomenally.

I finished up some of the 12 inch wood I had been cutting for years and put my first load of 16 inch wood into my Lopi. Should be interesting how long of a burn I get with the longer wood.

You should be surprised. I notice a difference just going from 16 to 18" in my stove. And when I go to 22" , it a huge difference in burn time, or overnight heat output when it's 40 below.
