10 acres getting cleared. Everything in the first pic was standing a week ago. It will all get dragged by a skidder and piled up. Then I can munch on it one truck bed at a time at my leisure.

25 minutes/miles from me one way. Totally worth the drive.

Picked up one bedful of white oak, poplar, and a few pieces of sassafras today. Most of the rounds had the bark fall right off when I bucked them to 16".

Some of the super straight logs will be milled into dimensional lumber. All the small stuff to be chipped.

I will probably bring my Champion 40-ton splitter up there.......or buy another one....and there's already a Super Split on the property.

    Yee haw.

Boy that is a deal! Can you put racks on your pickup, or is that more than enough weight for the truck? So nice when the bark volunteers to stay at the jobsite. I love that.

The Tacoma’s are like my Frontier. Probably rated to carry around 1100-1200 in the bed if it’s a 6 cyl. I’d say he’s pretty close to his limit weight wise. Towing is another story. Should be able to tow 6500-6800 lbs. A smallish dump trailer would be perfect for that job.

Does your tree service buddy have a grapple truck, or a skid steer and dump truck? I’d say it’s time to cash in some of the saw fixin. That’s a sweet Sassafras log. :stacker:

Thanks. I don't mind taking a little bit at a time. Since I'm just in replenish mode and have already done the hard work of getting slightly ahead, I don't want to give the town any reason to pay a visit and bust my balls. I always wanted a trailer but I really have nowhere to park the damm thing. I could borrow my tree service buddy's dump truck if needs be but I'm happy to take my 50cu ft. Also, when the time comes and that lot is leveled out I may be able to start a business there because seriously there is enough wood for a lot of people for a very, very long time. I have a handshake agreement at the moment with the owner so fingers crossed.

I could probably stack it one more row up if I really wanted to but I don't have a headache rack and I've already learned my lesson on stacking too high. And yeah it's a 6-cylinder with the towing package.

I split some of the oak today. It was still pretty visibly wet so at least 2023/2024 winter if not the year after. There were some insect holes deep into the wood too but no signs of actual insects. I love the smell of white oak.

Yeah I bucked that entire sassafras log. Love the smell!

Yeah I've got 4 stacks that are empty at the moment that can be filled up. I wouldn't mind me some more oak. I know it takes a while to dry but man is it worth it. I burned some March-2020 pin oak this winter and it was awesome. Mind blowing. Noticeable increase in btus vs norway maple. Can't wait to dig into my black locust piles this coming winter as well.

That is a bunch of crap. You should be able to store firewood on your own property without question. Perhaps it is different on a small lot but dang it, that is your property.

I agree %110 but some developments have deed restrictions on what you can and cant put on your property. My old neighborhood did. My firewood was way in back out of sight.
Our hometown has a blight commission and one can report a neighbor with too much stuff creating an eyesore. Ms. buZZsaws elderly mother did that with a neighbor. Shared a driveway (she lived in back) and neighbors were a bunch of degenerates. Clutter and junk everywhere.

    I can sympathize with LordOfTheFlies

We too have blight ordnances, but it is difficult to make them stick and it is too costly to take to court, so not much gets enforced.

Unfortunately that is my reality. It's not a HOA but rather just the racist neighbor harassing me via the building department. Knock on wood since my epic 3-email barrage I have not heard one word from them. I did clean up the driveway the week of my cancer surgery so I don't know what else I can do.

Today I'm bringing a truckload of wood to a friend who lives about 35 miles away. For free. Because I'm a nice person. Because he is out of wood and it's still going to be chilly for the next week round these parts. So I have to "prove" that I'm not selling wood for crying out loud. It's absolutely ridiculous. On top of that I'm bringing my massage table and going to fix his back and tennis elbow for him.....for free....

Giving him all the shorties and uglies from my original splitting back in 2019/2020 before I raised my standards (16") heh heh. He has a small stove so it should work out perfectly. Doing me a favor by getting rid of shorties that don't stack well indoors and doing him a favor by giving him heat. That's how it should work.

    Thanks man appreciate that.

    Thank you for your support.

Here's the load I'm bringing. I covered it with my mesh cargo cover after snapping the pic. There are some regular splits in there as well.

Good on you for helping out.

I can understand about those dumb neighbors. Fortunately I don't have that problem but my friend Redneck had a big problem with that. Maybe he will chime in. Some of it is hilarious but most of it is really sad, especially what the city forced him to do.

Yes neighbors can be a pain. I have one who thinks he is king of the neighborhood.
He harasses the neighborhood to get what he wants. Until he messed with me.
Yes I had to rearrange and move all my firewood per city requirements but it screwed him to because I moved the wood to the property line about 15 or 20 feet from his pool per the city.
His main complaint was stuff from my firewood was getting in his pool. It used to be over 100 feet away. I went and got a copy of all the city ordinances and make sure I don't violate them but I also remind the neighborhood who is not.
I don't turn them in just make it a friendly reminder. I have also discovered if I cut cookies from the bottom of the log up I can get enough saw dust to go in his pool to clog his filter in just a few minutes if the wind is blowing in the right direction.:D

I try to help out all my neighbors.....except for one obviously. Maybe sometimes I try to help too much heh heh.

That is pretty sad and pretty hilarious at the same time. Friendly reminders I agree is the right way to go. I don't turn anyone in either. And I don't care if someone has something that's too close to this line or that or whatever. That's awesome that you can get the sawdust to move in the proper direction like that!!! Good on you!
