Jay, jtakeman , Rheem water heaters are on sale today. Depending on what the savings are it might be worth your time to toodle back to the store today and get a price match/guarantee. I would if the $$ is significant.

But, it's only a One Day Sale so it'd have to be today.

No sorries, I'm already saving about $2.40 a day now that its installed.

6 kwh compared to 18 with the old heater. @ $0.20/kwh

I called yesterday, But I bought a different model than what they put on sale. But it was in stock and I didn't need to wait for them to order one.

I'm going to order the vent kit for the exhaust side. The dry cool air will be good in the summer, But in the winter its drying out the air to much and the humidifier can't over come it.

Oh, I must not have looked closely enough to the model #s you had in your post. They looked the same to me. But now I see there is an S in one and not the other.

It was weird BB, two different lines on sale. One had all gallon size tanks on sale, and the other skipped the 50gal. Jay bought that 50 gal.

So how you liking that HWH now? I have to replace my propane model and thinking maybe switch over to a HP water heater

Did you get this kit? During the summer I would be good with it drying the air, but during the winter, I would need to keep as much moisture as possible

Thanks for any input you can give!

Luv it, Saving some $$ with it and its doing better with the pellet heat keeping the basement warmer than the oil furnace. Averaging approx 80 KWh per month.

No not yet, But it will be ordered/installed this month. Not only is it drying the air, it also cools the air when hot water demand is high. I won't buy the kit, Its pretty pricey. I'm just going to buy the outlet adapter and go from there.

I did not plan for the outlet duct during installation. So I have to use a longer piece of flexable duct to the exterior vent hood. Or relocate the heater closer to the vent. I mounted my heater closer to the interior and water source. It doesn't take as long now to get hot water at the taps with it in the center of the run instead of off in the corner with a longer feed line.

Although not a hybrid, we switched from gas to this electric unit and have been very happy. 2 previous gas units started leaking after a few years. This unit lowered our monthly bills more that the new high efficiency furnace / air source heat pump installation did. It has really thick spray foam type insulation and is close to being as cool to the touch as the walls in the space it resides. Our electric company gave a $500 check fir the switch. The unit was $675 at the time. It only runs roughly 20-25 minutes a day to maintain 125° water when hot water isn't being drawn. No more vacation mode needed. Lol. Best part is no metal in it except the brass fittings and heating elements.

Eggshooterist I have had four of those for years, rental properties. You don’t want to pay for the replaceable heater coils. Old school water heater top and bottom elements about $25

    on that rheem over $300
