This was the last day that I had a bike. And the first day of... Just found myself white knuckle anymore on the road with texting and all. Sooo many wrecks around here on dry, straight roads on sunny days took the joy away. I do miss the pre texting days of predictable drivers and a bike. The electraglide was a partial trade.
Every once in awhile I find myself missing the bike. (sold in 2011) Then I take a drive and say, nope! Not here. Bad road surfaces, lots of traffic, unpredictable drivers on a good day, never mind adding the distraction factor in. There are some beautiful areas to go ride for sure, but I don't think I'd want to commute on a bike. Have seen two co-workers have humpty dumpty accidents, both were rear-ended at intersections/stop lights. (Both have survived and are living their lives, but they are very young - early-mid 20's. I hope they don't feel all the hardware at 40+)
59 and feeling every bit if it now Same here. Havnt ridden in years but still have the bike. Really should just sell it. Use too but again, not in many years
Got this 2017 Honda Africa Twin in October but haven’t ridden it much yet. First real motorcycle in 20 years…last one was a ‘74 BMW R90S (but in pretty ratty shape). Red, white and blue with gold wheels!
Those colors on Honda's are special! Looks great Jiminy. I'd imagine having so much fun behind bars with that thing.
Right on there bud. And I hate those dark tinted windows on cars. Especially at intersections. If on a bike it is helpful to know the person in the car is looking at you. Dart tint windows prevents this.
Two from our stable. Surly Disc Trucker on tour with me last year around Lake Champlain. My wife rides a Salsa Marakish. The bags are by Vaude of Germany. We were in Burlington, VT. when these were taken.
First photo looks like Deals Gap on the Tennessee/North Carolina state line. The "Tail of the Dragon" is 11 miles long with 318 hairpin turns/curves. I've rode that Dragon many times and its always a blast!
Last August - last picture of what was probably my last bike. For me, it mostly was due to ongoing cornea and retinal issues. I do miss it. Two more contributing issues: The fact that the last couple of years I did most of my riding during my 100 mile round trip commute, and I WFH. My local HD dealer went sold to a competitor (actually the heirs did), and the competitor closed the site. HOG Chapter was dissolved.
I remember being shocked when I heard that Heritage was closing, such a shame. I still miss that place back when it was at the original location.
