Yes sir, Luckily our energy company had an instant rebate of $750 or I wouldn't have bothered. :emptywallet: List $1799, Ouchie! Looking at a good 10 year

I certainly will. Right off the bat we had just warm water(had switch to electric mode). But I had it installed where to old one was located. Too close to the stone foundation(cold area). So basically had to install it twice. Moved it to the center of the room yesterday. I just switched it back to hybrid this morning, So we shall see??

I learned a lot with the hiccup, If your trying to install one of these in a cold area. You might want to get a higher tier model than what I got. Mine is the AO Smith HP10-50H45DV and its only a tier 3 on the NEEA(Northwest Energy Efficiency Alliance) qualified products list. I should have done more home work before I threw money at it. But our old heater decided to puke on the floor.

I should have bought a tier 4 model which has a higher energy savings in colder climates!! :headbang:

All the adds said "We'd be just fine" with it, I just needed to be a bit more cautious before I bought! :( Don't listen to the sales pitch many fling at you, Most have no clue what they are selling!!

But I did get to talk to a HVAC tech that helped and guided me to a better install. Plus share many tips on how to research my future green project of a heat pump heating unit. He also shared the NEEA info and list I posted. If I had chatted with him before I jumped in, I would have the Reem unit in its place. Which would have most likely been a better fit in my "cold climate" because of its higher heat ability in the area I have. I'm chalking it up as live and learn! But hope to help others learn from my booboo!

    PUT IN A GROUND COIL.....

Get the coil down into stable soil that stays at around 50F year round...

This solves the issue of the outdoor temps killing your heat pumps efficiency at low ambient temps...

On another note, I am looking into a basic filtration system because of all the rust I saw when I was replacing the heater. Both the hot and cold lines had a rust scale build up. I guess I have high iron content in my well water.

To me, a pellet boiler and a boiler mate for hot water is the way to go.
    But I might be biased.

This may be a helpful watch JT - we also have soluble iron in our well water, but haven't had the need to install a water softener, yet.

I have shocked the well w/ Chlorine several times since we've lived here (28 yrs.) though. That's more of a PM measure to prevent bacterial iron: (after a heavy Winter run-off & a dry Spring or Summer) vs. anything else.

I am going to get a DIY test kit to see what else might be in the water.

I've been running mostly the mini split this month for main floor heat since it has been mild out. But with colder mornings on the way, I checked the P43 hopper on Friday. It was close to out (only a couple of handfulls of pellets). I decided to put a bag of the GS that I got from HD just to see how the ash was compared to the MWP's that I've been running.

Sunday I checked the hopper, and look what had swum its way to the top.

Cardboard from green supreme pellet in P43.jpg Cardboard from green supreme pellet in P43-2.jpg

A big azz piece of thick cardboard that had plastic on one side of it. I couldn't figure out where it came from, so it must have come from the bag of GS. I'm just glad it floated its way to the top of the pellets and didn't get into the auger /chute!

Haven't had any turkeys since Mon. That day had about a dozen show up 3 different times during the day, appeared to be the same group each time. They got to the point where when I'd go out to put some food down for them ( seed, grain, corn, nuts) they'd gather at the edge of the woods, watch and as soon as I started shaking the big scoop with the stuff in it, they'd all come trotting over. One came over and started to try to eat right from the scoop.

Was reading a story the other day how turkeys in NH were basically extinct by the late 1800's due to over hunting and habitat loss. In 1975 25 turkeys were transplanted from NY to Walpole, NH. After a few years as the flocks grew, Fish & Game started taking some to other parts of the state. They estimate the current population to be about 45, 000.

NH Fish & Game has a wild turkey count running till 3/31.

Same thing had happened in NY. I lived there my whole life (born in '54), and never saw any until about 1998. They got introduced and the population grew very quickly.
