Right there with ya, the wolf population in Wisconsin here keeps growing and growing yet they won't acknowledge it keep canceling hunting seasons, last year they had a short notice hunting season it was supposed to run either 2 weeks or a month 48 hours after opening they had to put out a 24-hour closing notice, in three days they went over quota in every county. In season or not if I see one it ain't walking away

I didn't see them . But Jack, my dog did. I was driving and wanted to keep him moving. The wolves I've seen in this area aren't Huge. But as I said. There were quite a few of them.
I did not reduce their population. Sad to say.
I'm too much a logger , not enough hunter to stop my work day. Unless it's close and quick.

. I need to take the time to zero the new scope on my 6.5 Creedmoor IMG_20220307_180614188.jpg
This is my winter rifle. And general purpose Interior carbine.
    All around caribou rifle.
I need to take some time and go zero it. Scope that I had on it went wonky after I put it on a 375 I had. SWFA replaced it . It will stay on this rifle . IMG_20220321_172822841.jpg

At 1 year 1 week old. Jack weight 110 lbs. Not sure how big he will get . But I think at least 130 lbs. Which is above the breed standard for Maremma Abbruzzse Sheepdogs. But plenty of them get that big.

I am envious of the snow pack, hard ground, sunshine, and the dog. Glad you're feeling better and out hoarding. Cloudy, miserable east wind and rain here at 39F makes for some real crap. This seems to be spring in Michigan anymore.

Lets hope it lets up. I'd like it to stay relatively dry for the GTG.

I've been very busy and just revisiting with the "Hoard". I know what you mean about wolves now! I drew, after 15 years, a branch bull elk tag for the Mill Creek Watershed. It's a hunting unit open only 9 days a year to human access. Half of the unit is in Oregon, the other half in Washington. The "Shed" is considered the most difficult elk hunt, physically. But walking into the wilderness, never logged, no trails and hearing wolves howling was an experience. Fortunately, I connected the first day and shot the biggest bull I'll probably ever shoot. It KILLED this old man and the 3 guys that are 33 years old each packing it out and up a 67 degree slope for 5 miles.

This short video shows the hunt:

PS I'll remember to check-in more often, my apologies.

Thank you. Great optics and lots of practice in the field. If I draw that tag in another 15 years, I'd be approaching 80! Elk closest to my truck wins.

Fantastic! Also that was a great turn around time. Many places here are a year or more and many even stopped taking heads in. I found one with the last deer head I had mounted and he had it in 6 months.

I'm super jealous of your truck, All the trucks around here have holes in the body from all the rust.

Yup. We drive on ice here in The Interior. Not salt !
They put that crap on the roads in the cities up here. But I always try to NOT go to the cities. Or to the coast. Because the salt air just rots away anything made of steel . It will also rot out the magnesium main case of powersaws.
I'll take 50 below and No Taxes or salt any day. Most winters we only have half or less the snow we have this winter.

Got another 2 cord load out today.
