Its what's been in my Champion 23T splitter since 2012 or thereabouts...no issues, and I've only changed the oil/filter once IIRC.

ATF is fantastic in wood splitters. Been running it for years in multiple hydro units. Have not seen a failure yet.

They used a diesel additive that is mainly used in a marine environment. To start the truck, they used diesel and then switched to cooking oil. Just before shutting it down, they ran diesel again.

I was driving a pretty good sized water truck on the job one time. The fuel gauge didn't work that well. It would show almost full when it was actually almost empty!! Going up a steep hill on a job it ran out of fuel. First thing after we got it fueled up again i thought of using WD40 to get it started. No WD40 on the job, pumped the fuel pump full, still would not start. Finally looked inside the truck there was a spray can of window cleaner, really cheap stuff, never heard of the brand. grabbed that, fogged the filter inlet and it fired up the 3rd try. The guys i was working with about fell over laughing, and, they couldn't believe it started with window cleaner.

I've used Brakleen as starting fluid. Not sure if that was a good idea, but it worked good.

If a diesel needs "starting fluid" to start in warmer weather, gasoline sprayed in the intake works better than actual "starting fluid", which tends to lock the engine up for a few minutes (again, this is in warmer weather)
Either way, don't use on an engine with working glow plugs or intake manifold heater!

It works REALLY well! Like spray them mid flight and they fall straight to the ground without so much as another twitch...instant death!

Your right! this one would not fire at all unless it was given a little boost. In this case, window cleaner, lol
