Chvymn99 Have you ventured into this establishment down there ? La Cultura – The Best Cigar Shop in Kansas City! The website is quite lacking but one of the cigar websites said it was the best shop in the Midwest for selection. Here’s the link to Cigar World : Best Cigar Shops 2021: Midwest Cigar Shops | Cigar World
Never have heard of it. Looked it up, its pretty much in what I would call the Yuppy section. If I go to a Cigar shop its The Outlaw.
Your assessment is kind of what I was thinking. It looks like it’s on the edge of P&L district ? Almost between the P&L & Plaza ? Before looking at the address I figured it was on the Plaza.
Which location do you visit the one on Chatham up north or the one in Overland Park ? One of our daughters lives down by Lees Summit, the one in Overland Park would be most convenient when I do venture that way.
The one in Overland Park is easier to get to for me. I use to go to the original store up north ( believe that is Chatham one)... But now they have opened another in with a Brew house or a bar in side just in the past 6 months or so I believe.
I was in Des Moines today & while the granddaughters were napping I went to a couple cigar shops to look around , first time I have ever been in one. The first one about ruined me on going to another one. I opened the front door & they were 14 guys sitting around smoking cigars watching basketball in a 600 sq ft room. I made a beeline for the walk in humidor, they had a nice selection of cigars, guy at the counter on the way out didn’t seem to know much & their selection of humidors was 4. But having to swim thru that cloud of smoke to get to/from the walk-in, stand in to browse any accessories & check out was ridiculous. WOW! I reeked & still do. I pondered going to to buy some new clothes & taking a shower at a truck stop but figured since I was already smelling like an ash tray I may as well check out the other one on my list. The second shop was quit small but the smoking room was off to the side in another room away from the register, humidors & other supplies. The walk in humidor was smaller than the first place but packed with cigars. They also had about 40 smaller humidors, the fella a the counter was very chatty& knowledgeable about the questions I was asking. No overwhelming ash tray smell or haze that I had to swim thru to get to the walk-in, browse the merchandise or checkout. The second place had some Cohiba Spectre’s $125 a stogie. No I didn’t purchase one. My wife’s car still reeks just from me driving it. I guess I will leave the windows down tonight, hopefully it will air out a bit.
Yup....and that's what other people smell when you have a cigar. I am satisfied with the way these perform....but not with any of the imitations of them!
I get a bit of smell after having one but being outside makes a world of difference. My wife has never noticed before but yesterday she was all over me about smoking a cigar & I was innocent. Lol. I don’t believe I will be having a cigar at a lounge. I will give the febreeze a try she likes smelly air vent thingys any way. I may have to put some in the tractor for planting & haying seasons.
Well apparently there are only 3 of us interested in this thread so : Have either of you gents tried Cuban Honey’s ? My son was telling me how much he likes them.
Yup. Tried them. Don't like them. Don't remember the thought process involved as to why I got them, probably because they were cheap. Try one of your brothers first, if you're thinking of ordering them. Maybe you and him have different tastes?? I have enjoyed this guys reviews over the years. Maybe it'll help you out? Why did you not like them ? Thanks for the link Yooper, I will give it a look. I am always checking out the reviews of the cigars I am looking at or buying. My thought process behind buying 5 packs is : If I don’t like them I can give them out as gifts. I bought a 5 pack of the Drunken Truffle last night. If I don’t like them I will give them to my son or give them away to someone else. I also saw some Java Mint Wafes & Java Red Wafes while in Des Moines so I snagged a couple each of those. I got some My Father “The Judge” & “Jaime Garcia Especial Reserva” I acquired a couple Fat Bottom Betty’s, Drunken Alice’s & Flying Pigs A tin of Cohiba Blues, a couple Cohiba Red Dot Robusto Cameroon & Nicaragua Toro Robusto I want to get a few La Flor Dominicas to add in also. I am basically accumulating cigars now just to start building stock, trying them & seasoning them to try them later. I am trying to get my chit together & get my list made of what I have, get it made out as to mild - bold, flavored or not, sweet or not, wrapper type, country of origin & keep things sorted appropriately I have yet to try my Monte Cristo’s, Macanudos , Olivia’s & Gurkhas.
Chvymn99 have you ventured up to this establishment in Weston ? Or tried their cigars ? Weston Tobacco
Well you are not a lot of help, lol. I am heading down to the airport Thursday to pickup my daughter, I believe I we will swing thru & check it out on our way back.
.... I help where I can, but some things are beyond my comfort zone... Not much of a outgoing individual.
I am right there with you, an alleged world wide pandemic just hit & my life style barely changed. I know there used to be some tobacco grown up there & over around Holt. I believe the drying barns are still standing up by Weston, I don’t know if they still grow tobacco or not.
