You might be a wood hoarder if ; your kids start pointing out down logs and trees as you drive them to their soccer games, your coworkers come to you office during the work day to tell you they had a few trees cut down but didn't have the logs hauled off to save money. A coworker mentions they need a pickup load of firewood. They are specific on what type of wood they want. And you send them an internet link to free wood of the correct type from your saved/bookmarked listings. You help said coworker cut and split the free wood during lunch because you have your saw, fuel, oil, files, extra chain, PPE, wedges, axes, and log chain in your truck....always. You have been asked at the gas station if you sell wood when another customer sees your truck loaded with wood. You have someone stop at your house and ask if you sell firewood because of the amount of wood in your yard. You tell anyone asking if you sell wood, "No, typically it's just to heat my house.". Then stranger says how about $$$$ for a truckload and you end up following them home to drop off a truck load. You have more chainsaws than you have pairs of shoes/boots. You bought chainsaw chaps for your kids birthday present. Your kids know what a cord is and know it's dimensions. Your kids know the log splitter fuel tank will last long enough to split one truckload. your kids tell their mom, your wife, not to run the 066 with 36" bar because she may kill herself....use the little saw....and the wife didn't know you owned a small saw. You have helped another person cut, split, and load a free scrounge and they were a complete stranger. You bought a truck to haul more wood, and after a few loads you decide you need a bigger truck and/ or a trailer. You have repaired a chainsaw in the house because it was too cold outside. Your wife doesn't know you repaired a saw in the house because you did it while she was visiting her sister/mother/family/friend 2+ hours away.
If... You cut, split or haul firewood to a person in need, just because you can... And, thank God that you were able to do it for them... You have the True spirit of a firewood hoarder.
You might be a wood hoarder when you know the dates on your wood stacks better than your anniversary.
Or for the more shelfish reason,, deliver to a person in need just to clear the area for more wood...
If you ask the stranger what's he doing scoping out your house and his answer. " I saw the wood piles and I'm looking for a place for my tree service to drop some wood" I actually scored a few cords that way
You are excited about weekends because of firewood You think about where the next stack will go Your wife asks you if you want to sell a saw and say no Your wife asks you what you’re going to do today and you respond with Is that a serious question or
You might be a wood hoarder if you look at a Polaris ad and it takes several minutes before you realize there is a Polaris in the picture...
