Curiosity would have got the best of me. I would have had to spy on that till I knew what did it before the eviction.
I thought about doing that however I was more interested in saving the tarp and not ending up with a larger nest/den/mess. I used to just put a tarp over this stack however since the new stack is all red oak, I wanted it to look a bit neater (since it is the closest to the road and will be there for at least three years). I don't recall who posted a picture of their stacks with pallets on top and then a tarp over the pallets, but it looked very neat so I went that route. I did not want whatever created the nest/den to chew through the tarp and set up residence on top of the stack in the void created by the pallet (in addition to creating a leaking hole in the tarp). I haven't seen any new signs in the area lately so perhaps will never know.
Yeah, I was surprised he didn't scoot out of there, but he stayed there until I started putting more wood on the stack. His nest was up top right below the tarp.
Other than the Bears, and the Black Bears around us are pretty docile, I don’t bother them, they don’t bother me, I would trade pretty much all of you This is what I found fetching firewood recently. Several years ago, I had an Up Close and Personal experience, with one of his relatives, that resulted in my going through the Rabies shots series, so needless to say, it wasn’t a Welcome encounter Doug
I got bit by a feral kitten years back and had to go through the rabies shots too. It was right before my wedding and had to get one while on my honeymoon. To add insult to injury insurance wouldnt cover the $1200 as it was a vaccine.
Kinda hard to “Like “ that post But yep, they can be pretty hard nosed about the timing of the shots. I was working locally, and went in for one on my lunch break, the med office was really messed up that day, I waited an hour past when my lunch was supposed to be over, and they still couldn’t tell me when they would get to me, so I finally had to leave and get back to work, and got the shot the next day The next day, the nurse/physicians assistant? Gave me all kinds of Hell, about not getting it when I was “Supposed to” then said that my next one would be on a Saturday when I was supposed to be at the Coast Salmon Fishing and Crabbing, and wouldn’t bend on doing it Friday, when it was scheduled for, I was beyond Irritated, and called the Dr, he called the office and raised a bit of hell himself, and ordered them to do Friday as originally scheduled, it was the last of the series, and he said it would be fine to get it as scheduled, that being a day sooner than that shot should have been because of the earlier schedule snafu wouldn’t matter. I was relieved that I wasn’t going to miss out on a MUCH anticipated trip to the coast, but Dayum, having to deal with that on your Honeymoon, would be a Real PITA Doug
I didnt get the shots right away. The kittens had been trapped, brought to pound and quaratined. They said the kitten could be killed and tested but only by euthanizing. I said no and once a certain time passed there was no saving me if i had it so shots were started. Luckily the honeymoon was "local" on Cape cod so a hospital nearby. Long since divorced, I think back and now chuckle about it!
I was splitting some wood for a local and this feller came out and said hi. I relocated it to the ground and let it be. Suprised me for sure.
