Two Connecticut Hoarders and one Black Locust Score.

Took a while to procure this score from FBM. Guy was not a good communicator. Been trying to contact guy since December. Checked it out last month and Dave Sirchopsalot, his son and myself met up this morning to have at it. Both cut good loads, maybe 20% of mine was a couple big logs that turned out to be black walnut.
Forgot to take pics before we started but these are from last month when i checked it out first hence the snow.

Dave and his son working it. His son swings a mean isocore! Almost got it all. A few logs ill go back for. We both got good loads. 400 & 462 did the honors for me.

Dropped at storage. About two cords from three scores awaiting splitting. Partial second row in back. Shorties from today. By product of cutting tree service bucked wood!

 

Those new stihls look fine. How are you liking the 462?

400 did most of the cutting with 25" bar. Dirty wood dulled it up so the 462 had "clean up" duty with the 20" bar so had later cutting. I like the 462 a lot.

We had a blast today.
First BL score for us.
Pulled a trailer load out.
The ride home was a little dicey...that sucker was heavy behind the truck. Typical us, pushing equipment to the limits.

Running with BRAD was the usual good time, If I wasnt heading off to the old ball-and-chain (work) grabbing a burger somewhere would have been on tbe agenda.

It was a beautiful day to be outside. Much more comfortable than the connecticut sweatogether of last summer.

There will be one more note to add to this. Ill add it to one of BRADs recent posts though....not here....but together we witnessed the passing of a great one today, one beheld by few, but nonetheless valued. While her passing was not unexpected, it was indeed untimely.

Picture #4: That piece, if milled corectly, would have made a great shotgun stock. I bet it had some great figure. Walnut is better for gun stocks than it is for firewood but ya cant make it all into gun stocks. Too bad.

 

For those confused by this he is referring to the broken Isocore maul.

 

There must have been some nice walnut logs from that tree as there was a few remnants of slab wood there. Someone had chain saw milled there.

 

I think he was talking about one he is working cutting standing dead oak. Many trees for him to fell.
