Now I buy VP racing 94 octane fuel in 5 gallon cans and mix my oil in. It takes me a couple years to use it all.
Do people also use that in the little camping stoves, or those emergency type stoves they make with cans? Or is that just alcohol?
Yes. Thats what its for. Coleman Lanterns, camp stoves ect. As far as buying it at the pump, that's before my time and I have no idea if pump white gas was only 50-55 octane or higher. FYI, a 4 cycle mower, motorcycle ect does NOT like it. They spark knock and are under powered.
I've never tried the fuel in my "can burners" but you are giving me an idea. The Heat fuel treatment that is most commonly used in can burners doesn't work when cold out because it doesn't evaporate correctly when cold. Might try this but step back the first few tries in case it runs away and blows the 2 can assembly apart, wouldn't want a bath of Coleman fuel while cooking and become a human torch.
Everybody saying they don't shop at walmart must be spending way too much for motor oil. I just picked up 5qts of valvoline for $17. The chevron brand is a steal at $14 for 5qts but they didn't have it in 5w30.
You can see some really bad stuff in any store.. If I can save money on some things at Walmart that are just as good that's what I do. I have also had great luck with their pharmacy.
Yeah, I have to go tomorrow. 3 hour round trip, but we need a new drip coffee pot and other things that will add up to hundreds in savings that I can't get cheaper on Amazon.
Quite a ride . I bet you make them trips count. I use Amazon also and Walmart shiping on some things is handy.
White gas is basically the first fraction you get when you heat up unleaded gasoline. It’s boiling point is 98*C To make you basically make a still and use an electric hot plate to heat heat up your gas until the gas fraction boils off and is collected. It’s the same process crude oil is refined into gas, diesel, motor oils and greases.
Days long gone, lost with time! Monkey Wards and Sears had ordering locations in most small towns. You'd take your catalog in and they'd take your order. A few weeks later (sometimes longer) your product would arrive, and they would call you to come get it. Times were much simpler and more personal back then.
