Yep. Nobody's going to touch buying the company/ name at that point.

I got to talking to my cousin who’s a logger and his theory Is that Makita didn’t want to invest in an auto tune set up to be CARB Compliant. Course in 10
Years when it’s time for another saw I’ll likely be looking to downsize back to the 49cc class

I’m not certain it has to do with autotune technology or not. Echo is still bringing out new models and none of those are self tuning. Too bad Dolmar never had a solid marketing strategy and weren’t as popular as the others. Still hopeful that maybe someone else will pick up the name, but probably a lost cause

I hope that happens too. It’s nice to have a 4th option beyond Stihl, Echo, Husky but the sad reality is it would probably be a Chinese company that picked up the wreckage of Dolmar.

Been a Dolmar guy for ever, even was a dealer for a number of years. Stilhs are nice units but I dislike there marketing on the dealer side and also the "can only get parts from a dealer bit ( which includes chains)". That has always been a turn off for me no matter who or what the product. The fact that Stilh has released there consumer grade saws to the big box stores - defeats their other reasoning of support to smaller dealers.

I had a little Dolmar 350 for a few years . Was a great little saw. That's my only experience. I liked the saws..although they seemed a little heavy to me. But hated that we had two local dealers that came and went. No more local support. That turned me off.

No link needed, stilhs at home depo , Lowes Menards ect. These are the low end consumer( home Owner saws) not the next 2 models up although it gets tough to tell them apart as the model# are almost the same. Still runs 3 lines- Home owner, Contractor and Pro. priced accordingly. There are differences internally.

I have never seen a Stihl at a Home Depot, lowes, or Menards. I have however seen their stuff at “dealerships” in Ace Hardware stores and the like.

There is a farm store chain that sells them. Chris Lehman got the 201 from there for me oot in Minnesooota. They sell and service Stihl and Husqvarna if I recall.

Lowe's and Home Depot do not carry Stihl. Some Rural King locations do carry the full line of Stihl products, some locations carry Husqvarna. My local Ace hardware is the current Stihl dealer I do business with.

I asked Chris. L&M Fleet Supply is where he picked up my MS201C. His wife works there. They have stores in Minnesota, Wisconsin and supposed to build two in the upper peninsula of Michigan soon. They sell / service Stihl and Husqvarna.
