I just seen one at a stihl dealer this afternoon Don’t remember exactly how much but it was pushing $400, is that about right?
Roughly $400 vs $750 for a 201. MSRP w/tax pricing. Bought the 194 new and the 201 BARELY used for $375 OTD. 201 still has OPE sticker. Really wasnt looking for a second top handle but at that price i couldnt say no.
Yes for a 194. Was running it again today. For some of the conditions i cut in very ideal for working smalls
There’s one of those ( I think it’s the same model) in the back room at the shop. I should try and get it running, I could use a top handle on occasion. Can parts be found for it? I’ve never seen it run and I’ve worked here over 25 years.
Mighty generous offer. I’ll have to take a look tomorrow and see what it is for sure. Not sure I need another project but maybe between 2 of them I could get something going. I’ll keep it in mind
I've had several of those at the peak of my C.A.D. They are easy to work on. Generally all they need is fuel and oil tank lines, duck bill valves and air filters along with a carb kit. All are available at certain places online. Even the big jungle site. There were different versions of those saws. XL, XL2, Super2....some had a short rear handle others long with 2 triggers. They are neat little saws.
I forgot some have that pulse driven oil pump. Other versions do not. They just pressurize the tank. I brought two of the diaphragm pumps back to life soaking in salonpas pain gel. The chemical in wintergreen oil softens rubber.
A little dead Red Oak that was hung up A little dead Cherry that was hung up also. Had to pick and choose. Bottom of the tree was ok, middle will stay in the woods and some of the top was still good And some more dead Red Oak. Big stuff was another standing broke off maybe half that was good. The smaller stuff was a tree hovering a foot off the ground. Perfect. Longer hikes gets the smaller saw, 550XP
